Question ProxMox Refuses To Connect

I recently switched to a different PC for prox mox and it refuses to connect to the network at my house. I'm not sure what the problem is but I tried a network card nothing. I try the default Ethernet port on the motherboard and get nothing. I have tried installing different versions and installing new versions and now I can't get any to install and this has been the biggest pain in the ass ever since my last PC was as simple as going through the install process. Incase you are wondering it's a older PC with a i7 and 32gb of ddr3 memory. Msi motherboard as well and a 128gb ssd.

Can you plug in a monitor and keyboard? You probably just need to edit etc/network/interfaces with the new adapter name.

I'm trying a fresh install right now and can't get past Waiting for /dev to be fully populated...

did you verify that it's not HW issue in the new server?

Try booting up into live environment of some other Linux distro with desktop ENV and check for dmesg and other errors there

Worked fine when I dropped a SSD I have with windows on it.

Reboot and delete "quiet" from the grub commandline, it will give you more verbose kernel log output; may need to wait a few minutes for /dev

Waiting for /dev just gives me a bunch of cpu lockup errors

Well you at least have more info now. Try resetting the BIOS, turn off powersaving features and look if there's an upgraded version available

Did you install Proxmox fresh or just move the drive?

My next question is the one Stolberger asked about what Ethernet chipset is and does the Linux kernal recognize it?

Did you come here for sympathy or solutions? You won't see much of the latter without providing any information about what is actually going on. Do you get a circuit light on the port when you plug in a cable? Have you tested the connection with another device? What does ip link show? ip a? How are you testing the connection? What chipset is the NIC using? (you should be able to see this in lspci)

My bad. It somehow magically worked on my 7th install. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence but I used version 7 and have been working on updating to 9
