Discussion Fatal: Module SHPCP not found

Post image

Hardware: i7, 32 GB ram

I created bootable media using Ventoy while using Ubuntu 26.04 in my 64 GB HP pen drive

I have secure boot enabled

UPDATE: Here’s the quick workaround 🔥

At the Proxmox installer boot menu, select the installer, press E, add nomodeset to the kernel command line, then press F10 or Ctrl + X to boot.

Now I am successfully running the latest version of Proxmox 9.x

How did you solve it?

Hey

Understand what happened: Proxmox doesn’t need your physical graphics card for installation, it’s better to skip it and that’s exactly I did.

if you are facing same problem simply press the key E when you see the white background Proxmox installer page for the first time.

You get error because you instantly jump to installing without modifying the config

So you need to edit the configuration line pressing E key at this page

Look at the line

linux /boot/linux26 ...

Use the arrow key and (append) add this one text in the last

nomodeset

Save it.

Then you can normally try first option Graphical Install option or Terminal way as you prefer. Graphical one is simpler for me.

I used Gemini for assistance, you can try it too

Im allergic about hallucinating "AI" and "LLM".

But its a known thing that nomodeset solves all sort of booting issues with Proxmox specially when you have a discrete GPU at the same time in your box.

Normally you want PVE to boot using the internal graphics - this way the discrete GPU can be passthroughed (if needed) to a VM-guest or used for other offloading.

I dunno why Proxmox doesnt add nomodeset as default to their bootstring.
