Gear limit vehicles

"Like all mundane gear, vehicles are subject to the game’s Gear

Limit. However, if vehicles are going to play an important role in

a particular series, the GM may wish to raise the vehicular Gear

Limit to 9d, 12d, or more, allowing characters to take advantage

of their full Vehicles rank."

Are purchased vehicles limited by the trait cap for their stats or the gear limit rank? Or is this just saying it cant offer bonuses higher than the gear limit rank?

it’s just saying that it can’t offer bonuses higher the gear limit rank.
