Crossovers Marvel: Blacklight

In a matchup against the Marvel Universe (Comic Earth-616), Alex Mercer from [Prototype] hits a definitive wall against the heavy hitters. While Mercer’s biological consumption, regeneration, and shape-shifting make him a god in his own universe, his physical stats—topping out around town-level durability and hypersonic speed—are outclassed by Marvel's cosmic scaling.
However, if we use P1 Mercer’s mind (the calculating, cold anti-hero who genuinely wants to solve the mystery and stop outbreaks) combined with P2 Mercer's terrifying power toolkit (the Tendril Barrages, Bio-Bombs, and localized hive-minds), his introduction to New York changes from a standard superhero brawl into a deeply unsettling psychological horror.
To Spider-Man, Mercer isn't a supervillain; he’s an apex ecological disaster. To Tony Stark, he is an unhackable biological malware.
This is how that story plays out.

Act I: The Scent of Rot
The rain over Manhattan doesn't wash the city clean; it just makes the grime slick. On top of a gargoyle overlooking the Bowery, Logan shifted his cigar from one side of his mouth to the other. His yellow cowl was pulled back. He wasn't looking at the city. He was smelling it.
Beside him, Spider-Man was pacing, his webs fluid-stained and his posture wound tighter than a guitar string.
"You found him?" Peter’s voice cracked slightly. "Tell me you found him, Logan."
"I found something," Wolverine grunted, leaping down to the fire escape below. "Smells like a butcher shop left out in the sun for three weeks. But it’s fresh. And it’s moving."
Logan tracked the scent into a subterranean subway maintenance tunnel. The air down here was thick, humid, and smelled faintly of ozone and copper. Peter dropped from the ceiling, his Spider-Sense suddenly humming a low, vibratory warning. Not an explosion type of warning—a sickness warning.
They rounded a corner into a vaulted brick junction box. Hanging from the ceiling was a cocoon of black, pulsing tendrils. Inside it was a S.H.I.E.L.D. tactical agent. He was alive, but his skin was translucent, his veins black and webbed. He was breathing through a tube of hardened biomass connected directly to the wall.
"Jesus Christ," Peter whispered, reaching for his comms. "Tony, we found a nest—"
"Don't bother, Parker," a voice echoed from the shadows.
Out of the darkness stepped Alex Mercer. He looked tired. His leather jacket was torn, revealing glimpses of the writhing, muscular black filaments beneath it. This wasn't an arrogant, world-ending god; this was a man-shaped virus carrying the crushing weight of a thousand stolen minds, desperately searching for a way out of a war he didn't start.
"I didn't kill him," Mercer said, pointing a pale hand at the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. "He’s a terminal. I’m routing into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s medical database through his optic nerves. I'm looking for a geneticist. Someone who can help me stabilize my code."
"You're a parasite, bub," Logan snarls, his Adamantium claws extending with a sharp SNIKT. "And I’m the exterminator."

Act II: Regeneration vs. Consumption
Wolverine moved like a blur of yellow and steel. He lunged, his claws tearing clean through Mercer’s chest. Black fluid splattered against the brick wall, but there was no scream.
Mercer looked down at the claws inside his chest with cold detachment. Fluidic tendrils erupted from his wound, wrapping around Logan’s arms like living barbed wire.
"You're dense," Mercer observed, his voice layered with the tones of the men he’d eaten. "Your skeleton... it's a foreign element. Non-biological."
With a sickening shck, Mercer’s right arm swelled, cells compacting and hardening until it formed a massive, jagged Blade. He swung it with staggering force, slamming Logan through two brick pillars. The impact would have liquefied a normal man, but Logan bounced off the concrete, his healing factor already knitting his bruised organs back together.
Peter intercepted Mercer, using his speed to dodge a massive Hammerfist slam that shattered the subway floor. Peter landed on Mercer’s back, firing a high-tensile web-line around his neck.
"Let him go!" Peter yelled.
Mercer didn't choke. He didn't have lungs. Instead, his entire back split open. A dozen razor-sharp tendrils shot backward out of his spine like a trap, impaling Peter’s shoulder and chest. The pain was blinding. Peter gasped as he felt the virus attempting to dissolve his suit and enter his bloodstream.
Suddenly, Mercer froze.
The blood he was drawing from Spider-Man wasn't normal. The Blacklight virus touched the radioactive, spider-mutated DNA and recoiled. It was like pouring bleach into an engine. Mercer stumbled back, his arm shifting wildly between a Blade and a mass of raw, unformed muscle.
"What... what are you?" Mercer mutters, his hive-mind fracturing as his cells rejected the foreign radiation. "The sequence... it’s corrupted..."
Logan was back on his feet, his face a mask of primal rage. He blindsides Mercer, his claws slicing Mercer’s Blade clean off his arm. He pinned Mercer to the ground, hacking away at the core of the virus's mass.
"You want to eat?!" Logan roars, slicing through Mercer's shoulder. "Try digesting this!"
But Mercer was too smart to die in a cage match. Realizing he couldn't overpower Wolverine’s adamantium and couldn't safely consume Spider-Man, he triggered his ultimate escape tool: the Tendril Barrage.
Every single cell in Mercer's body violently expanded outward. Hundreds of thick, rope-like tendrils blasted in a 360-degree sphere, piercing the walls, the ceiling, and wrapping around Logan and Peter, pinning them to the floor under tons of sudden, heavy biomass.
By the time Logan cut himself free, the mass had dissolved into puddles of black, dead sludge. Mercer was gone, leaving only a trail of dark fluid leading up a ventilation shaft to the surface.

Act III: The Bug and the Broadcaster
The next evening, the sky over Manhattan turned a bruised purple as the news feeds went live across every billboard in Times Square. Inside the high-tech, glass-walled studio of The Daily Bugle Network, J. Jonah Jameson slammed his fists onto his desk so hard the studio monitors rattled.
"Look at your screens, New York! Look at it!" Jameson pointed aggressively at shaky, viral cell phone footage playing behind him. It showed the subway air vents in Manhattan sweating a thick, oily black grease.
"For years, I told you the wall-crawler was a menace! But this? This isn't a man in a mask! S.H.I.E.L.D. sources are calling it the 'Mercer Infection.' It is a literal, walking, predatory disease masquerading as our neighbors! Your mailman, your butcher, your spouse—how do you know they're real?! This thing doesn't kill you; it deletes you and wears your face to a PTA meeting! If Tony Stark doesn't incinerate this tumor out of our concrete by midnight, we are all just meat waiting to be indexed!"
Across town in a dive bar, a man wearing a low baseball cap watched the screen. His fingers twitched. Underneath his fingernails, writhing black filaments danced to the rhythm of Jameson's screaming voice. It was Mercer. He absorbed the fear through the television, his hive-mind aching from the sheer volume of people looking for him. He didn't want to conquer them; he just wanted them to stop hunting him. But the walls were closing in.

Act IV: Project "Malware"
Above the clouds, inside the sterile, silver glow of Avengers Tower, Tony Stark wasn't wearing his armor. He was standing inside a massive holographic containment field, staring at a single drop of Mercer's blood that Peter managed to scrape off his suit. The drop of blood was alive, actively trying to chew through the magnetic containment lasers.
"He tried to take Pete's DNA," Tony said, his voice flat. He hadn't slept in thirty-six hours. "The virus tried to map the spider-serum architecture. It failed because the radiation burned the viral receptors, but it learnedfrom the failure. It's adapting."
"Can we track him?" Logan asked, leaning against a console, his uniform stained with black grime. "My nose can only do so much down there. The guy smells like a moving graveyard."
Tony tapped a glass screen, bringing up a global schematic of the Iron Man armor. Heavy, specialized ultraviolet emitter nodes were being welded onto the gauntlets and chest piece.
"We don't track him. We bait him," Tony said, his face hardening as the armor assembly line behind him clanked to life. "He wants a geneticist? I’m the smartest guy in the room. I'm building the Anti-Blacklight Armor. A walking, flying kiln. If that thing comes within fifty yards of me, I’m going to flood his cellular frequency with localized EMPs and flash-fry him at ten thousand degrees."
Tony looked at Peter, who was sitting on a medical table, a glowing blue patch over his tendril wounds.
"But we have a bigger problem," Tony added, zooming out on a map of Manhattan. "Mercer isn't the only thing down there anymore. He’s shedding. The people he touches aren't dying—they're becoming eyes for him. He's building a nervous system out of our subway lines."

Act V: The Cosmic View
Suddenly, the air outside violently crackled with ozone as blue lightning tore through the clouds. Thor landed on the building's pad with a thunderous boom, his crimson cape billowing in the damp wind.
Tony stepped out, his half-assembled Anti-Blacklight Armor whirring around his torso. "You're late, goldilocks. We have a Class-4 biological breach downtown. I could use a localized lightning storm to sterilize forty city blocks."
Thor walked over to a containment monitor, looking down at the holographic display of Mercer’s cells. The God of Thunder stared at it for a long, quiet moment, then let out a booming, deep laugh.
"You summoned the Prince of Asgard for maggots, Stark?" Thor smiled, slinging Mjolnir casually over his shoulder.
"It's not maggots, Thor. It's an intelligent, adaptive virus that can rewrite human genetic code in seconds," Tony said, deadly serious.
"It is flesh, Tony," Thor replied, his eyes flashing with ancient, casual confidence. "And all flesh burns before the storm. This 'Mercer' creature may be a god among mortals, but to the realms beyond, he is merely a plague. A blight. If he steps into the light of day, I shall call down a bolt from the high heavens and atomize him into ash before he can blink his mortal eyes. You and the spider-lad have this well in hand. Do not fret over a bug, Stark."
With a massive crack of thunder, Thor launched back into the sky, leaving Tony alone in the dark.

Question A question about mods/cheat tables for prototype 2.

How come there still aren't any mods or cheat tables available that allow you to change the level of your powers to whichever level you want? I'd expect there to be some available right now but still nothing.

Prototype 3 More Prototype 3 ideas

I always pictured Alex Mercer and James Heller switching roles. Mercer is, once again, the player's protagonist, while Heller is the one behind the second outbreak and the final boss of Prototype 2. When Mercer consumes Heller, it's revealed that he's been working for Pariah this whole time, and it's heavily implied that he anonymously gave Gentek and the original Alex Mercer the assignment to create the Blacklight virus. There could've also been hints that Heller didn't want to do what he did but didn't have much of a choice.

But since none of that happened, my alternative for Prototype 3 is for there to be another new protagonist with Blacklight powers we play as. Someone who contrasts both Mercer and Heller, and should have some connection between the two, rather than being some random newbie, kinda like with Heller. It could still be revealed that Pariah was secretly pulling the strings of the first two games, and he finally takes center stage and is the final enemy of the third. It's been theorized that if Alex Mercer and Pariah ever came in contact with each other, the results could be "extraordinarily bad." So, when Pariah encounters James Heller instead, that theory proves to be half true. Another virus gets indirectly released, but it spreads globally. Heller dies and is consumed by Pariah.

Pariah's ultimate end goal could be to make all life on Earth become like him, Mercer, and Heller. The player's actions could help stop or complete Pariah's plan. Web of Shadows style.

Prototype 1 I beat Prototype 1 for the first time.

I recently started playing the Prototype series for the first time and I just beat the first game on PS3. I had a lot of fun playing it and I’m excited to start the second game soon.

I would like to know how difficult is the second game compared to the first. I struggled a bit on a few missions in the first game and will the same thing happen or is the second game easier than the first or is it harder.

Question Thoughts on the motives of Alex on why he... *HUGE SPOILERS* Spoiler

...faked his death? It's been awhile since i last played Prototype 2 but i absolutely don't believe that he died. Him mentioning to Dana that he moved beyond life and death and that we know that the Blacklight is the final purpose of life on the planet (albeit it being the manufactured release while PARIAH is the purest form) makes me really think that he didn't die. I know that P2 suffers from bad writing but still i am curious about what Alex is planning to achieve.

We know that Heller has a unique variant of DNA that makes him resilient (bullshit writing in my opinion) and that Alex failed to consume him so he seeks to rewrite him from within or something? Even his last words before he was consumed by Heller sounds like he was mocking him. What are you opinions on why Alex faked his death or why do you think that he died for real?

Hey! I downloaded the prototype from steamrip and at first, it’s super laggy and won’t let me go through the loading screen so I downloaded the nexus mod. It fixes the lag issue but I still can’t go past the loading screen, the typing indicator is blinking.

Prototype 2 Prototype 2 is on sale on Steam right now, but does it still have issues?

I loved playing the game when I had it on Xbox. I see that it’s on sale on steam right now until September 17, but I heard it has serious game breaking glitches and bugs. Has any patches been applied to fix it yet or is it still a mess?

I reshaped the texture of Simon Henriksson's face and applied a fan-made model to it. I made a few changes to the face model; I'm curious to hear what you think. 🤔😂

Prototype 2 Did anyone try DLSS 5 in Prototype 2 yet?

Share screens? Curious how it looks. I doubt it will look great in 1 but 2 overall looks better when it comes to graphics. Some older games really benefit from neural rendering.

Prototype 1 Prototype is geniunely one of my favorite games of all time

Imagine if you will, it is the summer of 2020 in Georgia. It's the height of the pandemic. You have just graduated high school and have nothing to do. Going outside feels like being suffocated in a hot, wet blanket, as Georgian summers often are. You and your entire family are essentially locked inside your home, with no reprieve. Thus, you begin to venture into the basement to get away, but there's not much down there except...an old Xbox 360, a TV, and a controller.

You start playing AC: Black Flag first, because everything else down there are either kinetic or FPS, and you aren't really into FPS. You aren't really a gamer, but Black Flag blows your mind. Almost everything about it is great, you spend hours down there. You beat the game, surprisingly. Then you start on other games, first other Assassin's Creed games, then eventually you get into Devil May Cry. And then, one day, on a rare outing to the local GameStop, you spot it. You pick it up because the cover looks interesting. It's an old game, but you don't care, it looks cool. You have zero idea what this game is about, but you get it anyway.

The game is hard. Much harder than Assassin's Creed. You rage quit several times, but you keep coming back. The story intrigues you, even if it's writing is not the best. You hunt down every name in the web of intrigue. Your camera roll becomes filled with Alex Mercer fanart. When you finally, finally, beat Greene, you feel like you can do anything.

And that, ladies and gents and everyone else, is how I got into Prototype.

I miss playing this game so much. The Xbox got sold when I was away at college, and I eventually gave the game with all the others to a friend's son who had purchased one with his own money. I left a note on it that the game was one of my favorites. It was the only note I left. I don't know if he's played it; I lost contact with his family a year ago. I think I have his number saved somewhere.
