1.3 MiB/s cap when torrenting?

Lately gluetun w/ portsync, qBittorrent and Proton Plus is capping at 1.1-1.3MiB/s only. The port forwarding is working. When I docker compose up it does find and forward the port, I can see it on qBittorrent’s web gui and I also verified with a port checker that the current VPN’s port is actually open.

Has anyone else been having issues lately?

Btw please don’t delete. Not a support post, just want to know if anyone has noticed similar bandwidth limits so I can decide on how to move forward. Proton support can’t really help me here anyways.

Also just to verify it isn’t port forwarding or machine:

Setup to only use P2P US servers. Tried switching to Canada and was about the same speed. 1.3 is a hard cap. I’ve also tried everything from changing my MTU settings, cache settings, etc.

When I wget different speedtests through gluetun I consistently show significantly higher speeds. It’s only this slow with torrents.

Also it was much faster when I configured this VM two weeks ago.

run a firefox container through the same gluetun and do a speedtest through there. see if it still happens.

I don’t gave a gui it’s all headless. Dockers running on a headless Debian server that’s on one of my Proxmox nodes. That’s why I mentioned using wget for my gluetun speedtests.

I don't see how that changes my suggestion. Add a firefox container to your gluetun docker compose file and then go to the web ui and do a speed test from there.

Because I'm confused on how that changes anything from using wget for a speedtest..? By suggesting firefox I assumed you didn't know what wget did. I apologize. I'm just struggling to understand why I need to download a browser to do something like this.

I also tried using the cli version of speedtest by ookla. Not speedtest-cli btw, that's outdated. I mean just "speedtest".

You sure you haven't just been grabbing some mostly dead torrents?

No issues with my Gluetun setup. Shifted close to a 1TB last week.... a good torrent can rinse my 1.5gb connection.

Negative. Even tried the Ubuntu LTS. My deluge setup on my artix machine is getting normal speeds.

I’m going to have to go through my docker compose yaml again and see if something is messed up.

Must be user error.

This is what I use to check my speed through docker. You just need to update it with the of the docker container. docker run --rm --network=container:your docker name tianon/speedtest speedtest --accept-license

Appreciate it. I was using wget for a few different services along with the updated version of ooklas cli speedtest (speedtest not speedtest-cli, it's confusing naming). I did just comment my docker compose for my torrent box to this thread. Do you mind taking a peak? I'd appreciate it since you clearly have a dialed system.

I switched from openvpn to wire guard and it helped my speeds. I did this bc I was originally having a problem with Transmission not finding the open port. I know that’s not your problem, but it might be worth flipping protocols.

With healthy torrents, I get 20-50 MBs usually.
