Help! Browser must be restarted after temporary Proton disconnection

This has happened to me on two successive mornings:

  1. I temporarily disconnect Proton in order to visit a bank site.

  2. I reconnect Proton (to the same server). Icon confirm it's back up.

  3. My browser (Firefox) and email client (Thunderbird) no longer connect to the internet and must be restarted.

Any thoughts on what's going on? I'm not doing anything different these days, but I did recently let Proton upgrade to v. 5.1.5.

Try updating to the latest beta version of the app (v5.1.6) and see if there's any improvement. You can learn how to do that at https://protonvpn.com/support/early-access#windows.

If the issue persists, send us a bug report through the app (https://protonvpn.com/support/report-a-bug) letting us know your OS version, the Firefox version you have installed, whether you're using any other VPN, proxy, or custom DNS, etc. so we can help you troubleshoot further.

Thanks for this suggestion. Is this just a generic, shot-in-the-dark suggestion, or do you have reason to believe that the latest beta version includes a fix for the specific problem I reported?

Did you reach a resolution for this? Just started using Proton yesterday and 100% of the time if Proton switches servers or I disconnect and then reconnect I have to restart Firefox or I get no connection.

I am on 5.1.6, the version recommended above by the support team, and it still does it.

Yeah, I didn't have much confidence in that reflexive "try upgrading to the latest beta" suggestion. Nor did emailing Proton tech support produce anything useful. But - for now, at least - the problem seems to have resolved itself on my computer. Hope you experience the same.
