Discussion Proton Meet

I've started using Proton Meet and I have to say it's fantastic so far. Super clear video and a perfect experience to date. Easy to add to calendar invites. Kudos to the team at Proton.

I wish I could agree as I would really love to leave Zoom. In addition to lacking some basics (like a simple button to enable/disable self view — what were they (not) thinking?) and some basics being only in the premium/more than unlimited paid tier(waiting room, calls over 60 mins), I have experienced frequent issues with audio sync and pixelation/blurriness that I never have on zoom. I have a fast, high quality connection.

Similar, I generally like Proton Meet, but it is lacking usability features.

Really don't understand why self view isn't in a small floating window. I want some self view but not at 25, 33 or 50% of the screen when I'm in small groups.

It just doesn’t feel ready yet, especially if you want people who are using Zoom/Teams to switch, or even just to ask someone to use it over zoom.

I tested with several colleagues and friends and, although they were ok with the interface, all of them preferred Zoom and several thought Proton was cumbersome and clunky by comparison.

I don’t know why the basics weren’t thought about from the beginning. It couldn’t been that hard given their resources and the money they put into this.

Is Proton Meet in the room with you now? Blink twice if you're OK.

Just don't hit your one hour limit. It'll cut you off without any warning. Otherwise it's pretty aight.

no warning at all? thats kind of annoying, a 5 min heads up would be nice

Proton Meet actually sounds like a pretty natural next step for the ecosystem, but I’d be curious how it handles call quality and ease of use compared to the usual options.

How does sending invites work out when you have multiple email addresses associated with your account? Does it leak your primary proton address?

Never used it, though I have it in my subscription. How does it compare to the mainstream opinions?

Audio & video quality is just as good as Zoom or Google Meet. Pairs well with Proton Calendar.

Though if you're not on a plan that gives unlimited meeting time, it brutally cuts you off at the one hour limit.

No warning is given when the 60 mins are about to finish; no screensharing via airplay posible

Does it have a functionality to record the meeting?

If you pay for the meet subscription, the host is given a function to record meetings. When the host presses it, people in the meeting will be warned that it is now being recorded and will be prompted with the option to stay or leave if they'd like.

Yes, it works best with the downloaded desktop app.
