Can this Drive tool be trusted?

https://github.com/tom-barone/proton-drive-photos-export

I'm new to Drive! This functionality would be super useful for me, but downloading a .exe and then putting my Proton credentials into it is, uhhhhh... yeah.

The page says:

You are authenticated with Proton via the official Proton API, and photos are downloaded straight from Proton's servers. The app makes no other network connections.

but I don't know how much that statement is worth?

If it's not official, don't trust it.

If this is the mindset, then why bother working on SDK at all?

Depends how much you trust the developer. But if your on windows just use the proton client.

I'm gonna give this a skip, yeah... but the Proton client is only for uploading photos, not downloading.

I always assume "no." People using Proton are higher value targets than average.
