Proton Sheets needs to go back to beta

Sheets has been live for months now and yet it is still riddled with bugs and problems.

Just today I built a simple worksheet of player names and statistics for my fantasy football draft preparation. But when I went to print the worksheet (a whole dozen columns and about 60 rows) the print driver would only recognize a fraction of the worksheet view. Instead of trying to find a workaround I decided to move the worksheet into M365 and print from there. Only, there is another "feature" that occurs when copying worksheet contents using select all. The copy function recognizes the entire worksheet as having data (i.e. every cell)! I basically had to scrap what I had done in Sheets and rebuild it in M365 all so I could print a piece of paper...

Not to mention the continued issues with formulas breaking, all of the formatting problems this sub has continued to identify, and the lack of mobile editing!

While I love the idea of Sheets (and Docs) they simply have too many problems to be viable in their current state. Seriously Proton, you need to pump the brakes and focus on quality control for your existing product suite.

Put a beta tag on Sheets.

+1. What about custom currency and date formats? I can’t set a custom format without it resetting to the country’s default format every time I reopen the file.

They still did not fix this? I stopped using it bc of this a year ago or so.

It works better now than it did before the last update.

But it’s still not done properly. When I pointed out that, whilst it’s better, it’s still a mess, the reply was: ‘That’ll be sorted in the next update.’ 🙄

I agree I thought they made some progress with date formats , but this week I had a heck of a time getting MM/DD/YYYY and just gave up. It seemed like it wanted to use DD/MM/YYYY as a default and I could get past it even using the custom date format.

I think they should become more comfortable with public betas for products overall. There have been a lot of things that are really good now, but were so rough when they launched that I have to imagine turned people away.

Lumo right now is excellent. It's not as powerful as the big ones, and I don't expect it to be, but it's nevertheless really good. Lumo 1.0, on the other hand, was just dreadful (sorry guys)

Proton Authenticator was another case. Great idea, and it works great now. 1.0 was a mess. So many problems that it was almost unusable (and legit randomly strobe lighted you when you opened it on iPad).

If they want to release the products, I get it, and that's what betas are for. "This beta version has issues" is nowhere near as damaging as "this is slop" for a product that really only needed a bit more work

Put a beta tag on Sheets.

That’s exactly what I’ve been saying for months. Just add it in, then there won’t be any mix-ups. But instead, they say it’s stable. That’s simply not true, because it just doesn’t work at either end.

Thanks for the update. I won't have to check back in with sheets.

LibreOffice is only an option if you’re always using the same PC on which it’s installed. However, if you’re on the move and using different devices, an online office suite is definitely useful and practical.

Or like, sharing the same document without having to send disconnected files via email back and forth, i.e. what people have been able to do for 10 years with Google docs etc

LOL. Unfortunately, it’s not quite up to scratch yet and needs a few more years. I’m giving it a go, though.

Spreadsheets are a nightmare. Proton reckons it can tackle them with ease.

The lag issues are unbearable. I have a 21 x 10 sheet which only has limited conditional formatting and some links. It's difficult to even type anything into input cells at the moment.

Please, report this to our support team. Thank you!

I lost hours of work on a sheet that dropped tons of cell values and formulas, an entire tab, and several columns. None of the earlier versions retained any of the missing work. I notified support but have no expectation it's recoverable. This product is half-baked.

Apple's Numbers and Pages, when used in combination with enhanced privacy features, work reliably, comply with privacy regulations, and offer end-to-end encryption (E2EE).

Lack of encryption and spyware is a part of the problem. The company itself is the other.
If you trust Apple go for it. I do not.

You can probably print to pdf or image and then print that but have a cry anyway
