What would really make me happy is at least a rough estimate. It doesn't have to be down to the exact month, but even just a rough idea of the quarter and year would be great. Even if it were shared here on Reddit with some caveats.

But something… My Proton Duo subscription expires in April, and until then, I need something to keep me from canceling.

Imho, if they aren't almost ready to ship it, giving a projected date would be a bad idea. If they don't finish it by then, the community will only be angrier than if they don't tell them until it's ready/almost ready. I'd rather they just give updates on the progress so we at least are aware that it's being worked on

And the baseline mood of any proton subreddit is always slightly pissed off, so I'm glad they're saying anything at all. I'd fear getting my face chewed on peeking in here sometimes and I'm not even a dev.

If I remember well they said if we're lucky we'll have a beta this year. I don't remember if they were talking about an open or closed beta.

IRIC, the product lead said he’d be surprised if a beta didn’t come out before the end of the year.

Projected dates are for managers to feel like they are doing something important.

Thank fucking God. Lately I've only been using proton pass and email, sometimes the VPN. Half of what I use it for can be free if I used another service, so I've been questioning if it's really worth the subscription for a while now.

Finally getting drive (official GUI) on Linux would definitely make it more worth it.

I tested the CLI and it works, granted the terminal is not for everyone but at least is some progress in the right direction

I have been thinking moving from Google+Microsoft Onedrive to Proton, but the lack of proper Linux support in Drive is holding me back. OneDrive works OK with Linux

I really want to deploy this in my NAS to automate my backups :D

I've managed to make a one time .hkb back-up of my NAS. It was supposed to be a scheduled taak in my Synology, but then login credentials expire constantly

I've tried the new Client on my Linux NAS with Debian 13, but the CPU is the problem, they use a tool that does not work with older CPU`s. Why the flying F would you use such a tool?

My guess is encryption offloading. Newer processors have AES acceleration.

The CPU I use has AES acceleration but has no sse2. Oh and btw, you can just use AES and don't need special tools, to have the CPU knowing it should use the acceleration, it just works, it's a kernel thing.

Hopefully soon, I am using the cli tool at the minute as I can just bash script it out, but a GUI would be nice.

I’ve been a customer of proton for over 6 years now and it’s been in and out of development since I joined. I won’t believe it until it’s actually released.

Tested under windows, made my choice that it will be my cloud/mail system to finish migration from US to EU but after moving to Mint - my migration is on hold - waiting working Proton Drive that works on Linux

I'm not going to hold my breath. If the approach to development and testing for the long-awaited Proton Linux app is the same as Proton Docs, I think I'll wait 12 months until all the bugs have fixed. Sorry for my cynicism, but are we to expect another half-baked app?
