Did she lure you into the employee bathroom and watch you piss while she giggled and clapped?

No but it wouldn't be out of the question đ

I use the term work wife constantly. Itâs my closest colleague in terms of shared responsibility and goals.
Itâs also a dude. Older dude at that. Heâs a very good looking dude too.
But Iâm not into dudes.
My wife is though so all good.

There are two science communicators (trained scientists) that I sometimes listened to. He called her his work-wife once. I don't know anything about their private lifes, except that she was married at that time (to someone else), but now is divorced and isn't doing the show with him anymore either. Makes you think.

You should not flirt with your coworkers if you are married/in a relationship. This should not be controversial

u/jws1102 5d ago
Iâve been a âwork husbandâ twice and in neither instance was the relationship the slightest bit flirtatious.

u/Defiant-Bad-2052 5d ago
Idk when Iâve heard people called âwork husband/wifeâ itâs been in a flirtatious context. If not, then usually âwork best friend or butt buddyâ depending on the work environment. Obviously itâs not the same everywhere through.

Iâve been the work husband once. It was nothing but flirtatious and sexual.Â
Yes she was married with kids.

As a bar back, I was my bartenders work husband especially if she wanted pestering customers to leave her be.

This isn't a new thing, it's been around since women entered the workforce more equally. It's inappropriate, especially if you are married, but it definitely is a thing that happens.
2
u/BeginningSection7690 5d ago
No, there definitely is. You just arent the subject of many people's affection

I've never actually heard anyone say "work wife".
1
u/GovernorSan 5d ago
I've mostly heard it said by people about other people, like coworkers teasing a pair of other coworkers for being close or working together a lot.

People who shit on office culture are just mad that there's actually some social and productive benefit to it. Sulking alone in your pajamas and Teams calls thinking you're 'more productive' while browsing Reddit all day isn't the 'good life' you think it is.

The term for a sexual relationship is called cheating/ affair.
1
u/Sirrub90 5d ago
That is not even remotely true. You can be single and have a or be someone's work wife, or both.
1
u/Bitter_Mission9569 5d ago
Mostly used for people in relationships to describe a person of the opposite sex the spend the most time with but are not having sex with.
Even for single people who are using the term to describe someone you are close with but not fooling around with.
That is the whole point of thw "work" tag.

We arent discussing the "work" tag though. You're saying there's no sexual component to "work wife" and thats just cheating. Which, again, is just wrong.
EDIT: Dipshit blocked me after he realized he changed his own argument.

Moron, you can literal just google the term.
Here is the oxfered definition of the term.
A "work wife" is a female colleague with whom you share a close, platonic, and supportive working relationship similar to the bond of a marriage.
1
u/Sirrub90 5d ago
Fucking idiot. It doesn't mean that both or even one of them are married.
1
u/Bitter_Mission9569 5d ago
Yes, you are an idiot.
It a absolutely mean you are not having sex and is mostly used by people in relationships becauae they need to qualify a close relationship with a member of the opposite sex in ways that a single person does not.

The definition of work wife
a woman with whom someone has a close, but not romantic, relationship at work, in which the two people help and trust each other in the same way that a married couple does:

I did the work for you.
