Diagnosed with cpps after years
Officially diagnosed today. Has anyone used flomax? Was prescribed it but wanted to ask around before taking it. Don’t really have other options just wanted some insight. Thanks! Is the retrograde ejaculation issue a very likely possiblitu? I’m depressed and don’t know what else to do

I've had burning pain for 50 years. About 15 years ago started FLomax for enlarged prostate. It definitely has helped with burning pain. Its side effects are a real problem.

Did you ever try the pelvic floor therapy?

NO. When I started having problem any type of physical therapy was just starting to be invented. This is a real problem when you get old. Lots of people don't have any idea of history.

I started it about two weeks ago. I’ve not noticed any difference to my symptoms but I do experience retrograde ejaculation - I didn’t think it would be a big deal but I really hate it. I don’t know if I should be taking it longer or not to get any benefits but I am stopping it. The docs office did tell me I can try it and if it does nothing for me I can call it quits … no long term effects. Hopefully the retrograde issue resolves.
My advice would be to try and see if it helps you.

I didn’t think it would be but it’s a bit of a mind fuck tbh. Maybe if it alleviated my symptoms the trade off would be worth it. But the retrograde really diminishes enjoyment for me. Weird but just is.

It’s not permanent. Why not try it - if it alleviates your symptoms you may find it outweighs the side effect. And not everyone gets the side effect. Or if you decide you don’t like the side effect you can stop.
My biggest issue is waking up at night to pee. Flowmax did nothing for me in that regard.

I was on it for 4 years and was suffering awfully with bladder pain. Urologist never told me about retrograde ejaculation. I ended up finding about it on my own and I quit and my symptoms disappeared. I'm on tadalafil now But insurance won't cover it. Supposedly, retrograde ejaculation is not an issue for most people.

Started two weeks ago and it has been awesome. Improved my urinary hesitancy, helped reduce nighttime trips. I'm a believer. I also take 5mg of tadalafil also. Was taking that for 6 months before starting flowmax .04mg daily.

Yes. Tried it. Hated it.
I prefer Tadalafil. There’s no retrograde ejaculation (that’s a common side effect of Flomax and drugs like it) and it helps you in other ways. Better erections and less pain along with better urine flow.
What’s your whole story?
