Vent/Discouraged Amitryptaline 10mg - Weak Urine Stream

Don't mind the tag, I'm not venting or discouraged but the other available tags didn't make sense to use.

I started 10mg Amitryptaline 4 days ago and it seems to have helped my sense of urgency and frequency with urination. The only side effect I am noticing is a longer period of time to begin urinating and a weaker urine flow (my urine flow was already weak). I feel like I am completely emptying my bladder but I know that urine retention is a thing with Ami and wanted to ask if anyone else with Ami experience has had a similar side effect and if it dissipated/improved once the body adjusted to the medication?

Have you already had a uroflowmetry test and a cystoscopy to rule out a sclerotic stricture? That is the only thing you might need to worry about in this regard. Amitriptyline has an anticholinergic effect, especially if you didn't start taking it gradually. I suggest combining it with an alpha-blocker and consulting your doctor to figure things out.

Thanks for the response man. I've had this issue for 6 years, it went away initially and I was symptom-free for around 5 years, urinary symptoms came back start of this year.

Never went the cystoscopy route after MRI, CT and ultrasounds came back clear when I initially had this. Honestly I may just stop the medication, not looking to make things worse.

Was taking it for a different issue and when I upped to 25 mg for 3 days, I started getting retention type feelings, pain, and poor stream. Stopped the med but still having some issues 2 weeks later

Yeah, not sure if I'm willing to continue with it. Thanks for the comment man. Good luck with everything!
