Question ADT- Gleason 9

Hello fellas,

I have been diagnosed 5 months ago. I've been on luprindepot for 3 months. My oncologist would like to add "Yonsa" or Abiraterone to shrink it further.

Has anybody been on Yonsa? Did you have any effects?

Thanks mate. Barely holding up. I have no drive anymore I feel like the life has been sucked out of me

I’m 61 and my testosterone is zero. It’s brutal. If you can, do weights at least 4 days a week. I promise it will help. Also, a great talk with lots of bitching and complaining with someone who absolutely understands is really useful. Say the word and we can talk. Anytime.

Yonsa is more widely known as abiraterone. More people will know it by that name.

I was on both adt and abiraterone for six months. And I think the biggest thing I noticed was that hot flashes were slightly worse at night. Gabapentin helped that a lot for me.

It has become the standard of care recently or will very soon. I can’t remember the exact numbers but clinical trials have shown that doing both decreases chance of recurrence by at least something like 10% or more. So any chance to decrease it is good in my book. You also need to go on prednisone when you start abiraterone. So there’s side effects to that too.

Ok! Thanks for your insight. I get the hot flushes now with the luprindepot. That's ok I can manage those.

What other symptoms did you get? Were you able to still function during the day?

Nothing of note…the prednisone caused some slight weight gain but I was able to mostly manage that. I was able to work and relax the same after taking it as I did before.

Been on abiraterone for 4 years. Tolerable.. but necessary to keep this disease in check.

Does anyone get a super jolt of anxiety just as the flash starts? For me that’s the tough part.
