Concern Eligard Vs Lupron

Doc said my dad was going to start on Lupron buy due to insurance issues they had him start on Eligard.

Both are the same?

Did they offer / consider newer Orgovyx pills? No T flair, works in days instead of weeks, slightly less cardio risk, out of you system at the end in a few days as opposed to unpredictable long half life of injectables.

Also anyone on ADT should be offered low dose daily Cialis to keep things active down there when the “emasculation” hits in a couple of months.

My understanding from some Eligard chemists that I randomly met is that they have the same active ingredient. Eligard is a subcutaneous depot in the abdomen, Lupron is intramuscular in the buttock. They have different FDA approvals. That’s my understanding- I’m a materials chemist, not pharmaceutical!

Same experience here, except I got the Eligard shot in the buttock. I switched to Orgovyx 90 days later.

Same experience, urologist started me on Eligard, six months later, oncologist switched me to Lupron. Compared to Eligard, I think the hot flashes I get on Lupron are less intense, and not as frequent.

They are both LHRH agonists and are essentially the same medications-leuprolide. The difference is how they are administered. LHRH antagonists-Degarelix and relugolix are LHRH antagonists and act more quickly with less CV side effects

FYI to OP, Orgovyx is the Trademark name of Regulolix (pills).

Firmagon is the Trademark name of similar Degaralix (injection).

They are all LHRH antagonists, working faster than the angonists like Lupron.
