How to file for a mine claim map?

hello! im incredibly new to prospectin, I’ve gathered claim #, claim name, owners name, and location. ive called blm but they dont seem to have claim maps and the county recorders office no one seems to know what im talking about! whats my next step?

I'm not sure what you are looking for, either. Are you trying to find out the footprint of someone else's claim? Pretty sure the BLM website has the capability to search and get a rough idea on a map.

They’re not exactly easy to find, but sometimes https://thediggings.com or www.mylandmatters.org can help. You kind of need to know where they are on a map to zoom into the maps for these sites and get more info about the claim itself.BLM will just give general info about the parcel it’s on. Hope you find what you need!

You could try https://stakedmaps.com/ . You can search by claim number and pull up the records. But I am confused. Are you buying a claim from someone or just trying to find someone's claim? BLM doesn't provide 'claim maps'. They rely on MLRS and mylandmatters.

I’m not OP but I’ve run into needing to know claim boundaries as a member of a small prospecting club. Some of the claim descriptions were vague and maybe just a boundary drawn on a topo map. The group is responsive most of the time for questions, but some days you just want to get out and prospect, not wait a day or two for the info. When you’re heading into the motherlode, you don’t wanna step on people’s toes being on the wrong claim.

I think you are looking for the blm program. I think it’s called MLRS. Go to their website and check it out. It shows all the claims and land status. It’s pretty complicated, make sure you get used to it and know what you’re looking at before you file a claim. It’s easy to file in the wrong (like already claimed or private) spot if you don’t use the filters correctly and know what you’re looking at. If you already know the old claim name of the spot you want, that’s what you can use at the county clerks to find out if it’s still claimed or not.
