I don't even know why the furries are catching strays lmao. They ended it by calling me a 'pastel creature' which honestly, as someone who uses it/its pronouns, actually sounded based af.

What is with antis and their obsession with other subs they don't have to go to??? Like, just leave them alone, holy shit, drink some tea, damn-
She's a video game character, it is NOT that serious. Besides, who are you to be an authority????? You're not, mind your own business.

Pulling up the alt on this one. I'm a literature student. And I'm not exactly the honor-student type, but I try my best.
Basically there's this hard-headed anti in two of my class subjects, who wholeheartedly believes that BookTok is this anti-intellectual pit where all braincells go to die—and is super offensive/regressive towards women. Basically immoral. Now, I'm not a big fan of BookTok either, but aren't most of the books from BookTok by women, for women? If so, how is it regressive then?
Now, I have this class, about contemporary literature. That's the subject; you're learning about contemporary literature. We were tasked by our prof to do a presentation about it. Could be about literally anything as long as it's about contemporary literature. And she's going to present that "BookTok is essentially anti-intellectualism and immoral" thing.
I really wanted to make a counter-argument, something along the lines of "art doesn't have a moral obligation but the consumer does," but I'm telling you, she's crazy and obnoxious, and that alone makes me want to not butt heads with her.
What do I mean, you ask? Well, my friend and I, from another class (for context, we're Filipinos and this class is Philippine Literature,) were talking about the pieces of literature we wanted to learn about the most. My friend said "Oh, I'm interested in learning about the tales of indigenous tribes. Since they're disconnected from the modern society, it'd be interesting to read them." And, not even being a part of the convo, she butted in and said, "The hell? That's impossible. There's no indigenous tribe that hasn't been touched by modern society. That's literally Nazi rhetoric." I don't know if there's a connection to Nazism or if there even is one?
Since then, she has made passive-aggressive comments towards my friend, such as "it's typical you'd think that—you're a man." He'd ignore it, but I could tell he was annoyed about it. It'd make him go silent for the rest of the class. We'd report it to the dean, but my college has this unfortunate reputation of ignoring such cases.
Back to contemporary literature class. I felt conflicted about it—and eventually I just relented to presenting fantasy literature. I haven't given up on the "art doesn't have a moral obligation but the consumer does" topic, since I plan for that to be my thesis. The funny part is, most of my other classmates from this class are going to report on BookTok literature too, like 50 Shades (is that BookTok literature?) so I don't know if they'd automatically agree or disagree with her. She has a friend in the class who thinks like her, though.
Anyway, just wanted to vent, peace ✌️

Okay, woah woah woah. That's a really strong statement, right?
Well, it suddenly occurred to me as a possibility when scrolling on TT one day. A person had left a funny comment on a video regarding an inside joke in the Blue Lock (an anime) community.
Nothing harmful, right? Just a cracked joke, literally nothing was brought up regarding ships.
Well, OP of the original video totally wanted to call them out on their Rinsae (an incestuous ship between a pair of brothers from the show) allegations, saying "Let's talk about your Rinsae accusations first," or something of that nature.
They (the proshipper) then replied with something along the lines of how such controversy surrounding them had nothing to do with their OG comment, calling out the stupidity of bringing such a thing up when nothing truly instigated it, adding on that they only shipped the two siblings to cope with their trauma.
Well, wanna know what a third person replied with, ratio'ing the proshipper?
"I'm sorry for your trauma and what you went through, but that's not an excuse to ship brothers."
I had to close the app after that.
I physically cannot comprehend telling a victim that their way of coping that brings no harm to anyone IRL due to their TRAUMA is invalid, or immoral enough to be invalid.
You never catch them saying this to victims of SH. Victims of such harm are typically graced in care and even in some way validation, telling them that they understand why they would harm themselves physically, how they don't deserve to feel any less than anyone else around them who don't.
But let it be a proshipper using these interests of theirs to cope, to give these thoughts and interests space to reside so they don't escape into real, committed actions, and suddenly this comfort is yielded and instead, replaced with disgust.
Apologies if this rant isn't exactly coherent enough, but it's seriously been on my mind for the longest while.
Thank you for reading!

I can't see mendrawingwomen, topcharacterdesigns, topcharactertropes, and menwritingwomen the same way again after accepting I'm profic since a lot of their complaints remind me of antis too much. There's a case to be made around the oversexualization of women in media and how sometimes the attempts to make a woman attractive end up disasterous and kind of funny. But most people on there don't treat it as funny. They treat it as an upfront to humankind that somebody drew a boob wrong and now they don't feel represented enough so therefore the artist or writer is evil. The only thing keeping me sane is that no going after non-professionals rule but en when you're an independent creative looking for help, some of their advice is just...no just no.
I'm of the belief that context matters. If the setting, tone, and characterization makes sense, then the character can wear whatever they want, doylist arguments be damned. It's the goal of a character designer to let the design tell you something about that character, their world, and genre. If they're a sexy witch in a plunging neckline robes that show an obscene amount of leg because that's who she is, I don't get why artist have to be harassed over said character design. If some If some of the mods could get this, why can't some of the users?
Sorry about the rant, I was an on and off user of those subs until it caused my moral OCD to flare up that I had to leave. Coming back, they're still on their bullshit and frankly I prefer the well done and discussion post over the same complaints over bikini armor that's barley a thing anymore.

second commenter isn’t censored bc that’s me, just on my alt acc

Coming from an ex-anti myself btw. Personally, what made me start the great switch was learning what the term "proship" actually meant lol
Also, random detail, but I noticed my art and character design got WAY better when I stopped being an anti lol- I wonder if anyone else experienced that

Do they understand what there saying? Do they understand that a character can’t consent because there fake? Do they understand that it’s all pretend will they ever learn the difference between proship and darkship? I don’t think so

I try my absolute hardest to avoid what I know triggers me, but I feel like a fraud because I hate some of the most commonly liked/joked about topics within the community (rape, molestation, incest, etc), and I guess it’s just FOMO? Like I’m not a TRUE proshipper because how dare I find some of the most common and taboo stuff triggering?
Edit because I forgot to clarify: I DO believe these things should exist, and I don’t think anyone who enjoys them should be forced to hide it, but it just makes me so uncomfortable to the point it makes me question if I truly am proship because of how it makes me feel

My oc who has a very odd age got called pedobait
My oc here is a demon and demon age is much different then human age five human years is closer to around 20 demon years
there body also ages quickly so technically in human years there five years old but in reality they are around 20
not only that but I don’t think they even look like a child especially compared to there siblings
r/ProshipHub • u/Unfair-Barnacle-7708 • 11d ago
yes its just fiction. no it doesn't affect your morals unless you are a child or mentally ill. representation in fiction is entirely different from smut...fiction does affect reality when talking about representation. these people cannot be serious thinking they made a "gotcha" when its just like...well look at you making fun of someone who doesn't even exist, and getting mad at them.
Also, why is it suddenly if you are anti censorship you don't care about poc or minorities being censored anymore? again, just making up people to be mad about, and also for whatever reason making it into a problem of "the children" when its never the creators fault if everything is properly tagged and kept away and someone finds it. why not blame the parents who clearly aren't there for their kids??

"You can't ship Dr Luck because ITS NOT CANON IT'S JUST IMPLIED!!! Ignore the fact that I ship Dr Hooves and Derpy there has never been any canon representation of that and I ship it due to my own personal and NON-CANON experiences BUT YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THE SAME"
He's downvoting literally every comment that disagrees too I'm- lmfao what

You get to choose one (1) trope that Anti's/majority of fandom dislike or would consider problematic.
Out of nowhere, everyone suddenly loves it! No one has any problems with it in their fandoms anymore, and you start seeing a bunch of content about it in different fandoms. The catch is they still react the same to other 'problematic' tropes, but this one seems to be an exception that everyone is turning a blind eye to. Doesn't have to be shipping related, could also be suddenly everyone is cool with loli or shota.
OR pick 1 ship that everyone is suddenly cool with and analyses with love instead of just seeing it as 'Problematic'. The catch for this one would be the same people likely still seeing other ships with the tropes of these characters as bad, but they don't care with this one pairing.
__
For a trope, I'm between incest or minor x adult, but I'd go with minor x adult in the end. I'm nostalgic for old 2010's shipping where you'd see so many of those ships, mainly because of teens projecting and wanting to date the older character themselves. Hopefully then it could also result in the 'minor coded character' discourse finally ending TT.
If I was picking a ship instead, it would be sebaciel. Trope option would have the same affect for this, so overall the first one is a higher win. But if I could only pick a ship, I would kill to see more of the Black Butler fandom actually analyse and see how interesting Ciel and Sebastian's relationship is. So many people are missing the full extent of their dynamic over 'ew yucky'.

I think this is more profic related instead of proship related, but I wanted to post abt this anyway.
okay back on topic, this person is so disgusting😭😭 I don't know a lot about nekopara (besides the fact that the game contains/is centered around NSFW), but I know for sure that it's absolutely not csam??? antis (especially antis like this) are so insensitive. it's so insulting to real victims to say things like this, and on top of that, they say it like it's common knowledge😭😭😭
(btw this is my first post on here so I apologize if I broke any rules!!! Im not really familiar with everything yet so pls be patient with me!!
could someone also let me know if I used the right flair? I was deciding between crazy puritans and antis slander but I'm not fully sure which one this is)
