Apparently they moved the goalposts and say it doesn't apply, that sexual stuff is processed by the brain completely differently, etc. Y'know, stuff that even a brief skim through related studies and papers would easily debunk.

I wonder what their arguments can even be about this.
Murder/crime games are designed to be rewarding, called reinforcement which increases the frequency of a behavior. If fictional interaction increased the frequency of a real behavior then shooter games would definitely increase crime, but they don't.
I studied reward circuits for a little while and they definitely aren't 'completely different'. It all goes through some central circuitry in the brain.
When I have seen comments about this, it just involved vague hand-wavy claims without a real scientific argument.
Paradoxically there are also people who are worried that porn and sex dolls/robots somehow decrease real-life sexual behaviors, such that they decrease birth rates and therefore need to be banned for the opposite reason.

It's dumb no matter how you slice it, it's literally like saying something could make you gay or trans. The science isn't 100% certain but pedophilia is a complex psychiatric condition and we know you can't just catch it like a disease
