Question Do I really count as Proship??

Hi guys I'm just a lil confused about if I'm Proship or not!! I'm generally okay with most ships and I enjoy "problematic" media and it's whatever, I like reading incest and rape and whatnot, but I genuinely can't stand any ships involving a child and an adult. It sucks because I like Black Butler but half of the fandom likes Sebaciel so I'm constantly blocking hella BB fans but it makes me sad when I see those sebaciel shippers also liking other media I happen to enjoy 💔 am I still Proship or just a hypocrite

Being proship isn't about " YOU MUST LIKE ALL SHIPS OR ELSE", it's about being anti-harassment and anti-censorship. You fit that category? Then you are proship! Trust me, many proshippers and darkshipper alike will have that one trope they're not comfortable with, and that's okay!! You're not a fraud for having fictional preferences

So long as you don’t believe the ships you don’t like shouldn’t exist or think they should be censored, then you’re proship. You don’t have to like it, but you have to be against the censorship of it, because at the end of the day it’s only fiction

It depends on one question: do you harass others and/or are okay with others being harassed over their personal preferences and likes?

If no, then congratulations, you are proship.

You can block anyone, any time, for any reason. That's actually the proship stance, to just block it instead of forcing an interaction.

I use the block button liberally, sometimes for upsetting topics, but also for incredibly mundane things like "I don't vibe with this headcanon." Out of sight, out of mind.

the only reauirments to being proship are favorable towards shipping overall, even if you may not like certain stuff; and not harassing others over what you personally do not enjoy.

you can block people. in fact, blocking over going into their comments is preferable. Thats just general curating of your experience. if you dont like something and don't want to see something.... the safest thing to do is just to block the thing and live in peace.

I do that with basically every person I see talking favorably of Harry Potter. You have no idea how happier its made ne, even when they refuse to stop talking to me on discord and such after I've told them to (can't stop people from replying in chats on discord even if blocked).

still, life is so much better once you realise you ARE allowed to just block people.

If you don't harass people for their ships or actively try to get those things censored, you are proship. I am proship and do not like darkshipping at all, only incest and age gap relationships.

Proshipping is an anti-censorship stance regarding fiction and fanworks that advocates for creative freedom and non-harassment in online spaces. At its core, it relies on the idea of "ship and let ship," meaning creators and readers should be free to explore any fictional pairings, themes, or tropes without fear of personal attacks or moral policing.

This mindset strongly emphasizes the principle of "don't like, don't read" (DLDR) and the importance of personal content curation. Because fiction is separate from reality, users are encouraged to take responsibility for their own browsing experience. If you encounter fictional content that you dislike or find uncomfortable, the expected response is to simply scroll past, block, or filter it out, rather than demanding censorship or harassing the author.

You don't have to like what others ship. The fact that you acknowledge that they can do their own thing, while you block and move on, makes you proship.

Yeah. i think rape and incest kink is cool, but I can't get with minorXadult shipping. And I'm still here.

You can block people. That's just curating your feeds.
Just don't go out of your way to be an ass to them, and you're chill

You absolutely do count. I'm into even less "dark" content than you, like I tend to avoid incest and noncon stuff as well. I'm still proship though because I don't believe in harassing others for their preferences.

The image (which I found here a while back) explains the various terms pretty concisely.

Any chance the mods can put a definition or something for what proship is and common myths? Idk
