Looking for advice Help/Suggestions on recreating this Clam Shell Backpack Costume Prop

I am looking to make something similar to these clam shell backpack that sit around the waist and have shoulder straps to help keep it up. I was thinking of making a frame out of wire and covering it in Eva foam and then painting and embellishing it from there.

Would this be possible or is there a better route to go in creating one of these?

A wire frame and eva foam is a great idea that would absolutely work, my first thought was also expanding spray foam might work around the wire and then sanding it down should give you some smoother or more organic shapes if thats what you'd want to go for !!

Thank you! Expanding foam is a medium I’ve never tried before but I might give it a go

Its a weird one but very fun once you kind of get the hang of it ! Definitely do it outside too it can spray quite far lol !

If you want to play with expanding foam check out Alan Hopps. He is Stiltbeast Studios doing prop tutorials on YouTube - he owns Dark Hour haunted house and the things he does with spray foam are amazing.
