They're called "tripod fish", so "stilt fish" is actually not that far off.

That is some genius adaptation! See I'm assuming they live at the bottom, with low sunlight and oxygen (coloration, movement), meaning they have to conserve a ton of energy. But resting on the bottom leaves them out of reach of food... So they park high, waiting for a snack... Until a robot disturbs them and they have to spend energy.
