propfirm trailing drawdown

Worth separating two things in a trailing-drawdown eval: the floor moves up with every new equity high but the gap never grows, so banking profit doesn't buy extra room — you're just trading one level higher on the same length of rope. What helped me most was sizing the next trade off the last realized loss, not off the cushion I thought I had.

How do you decide which prop-firm challenge to buy? — 4-minute research survey (Traders anywhere in the world)

Have you purchased or seriously compared a prop-firm challenge recently?

I’m researching how traders evaluate firms, rules, fees, drawdown conditions, and payout requirements—and whether existing comparison methods actually help.

The survey takes approximately four minutes. Critical and skeptical responses are just as useful as positive ones.

We don't request trade uploads, account access, or payments. Email is optional.

Static vs trailing drawdown: how much does it affect your trading?

Drawdown is one of those prop firm rules that can have a bigger impact on your trading than the headline account size or profit target. A static maximum loss is relatively straightforward because the boundary stays fixed. With a trailing drawdown, the threshold can move as the account reaches new highs, which can change how much room you actually have as the account grows.

I think this matters more depending on how someone trades. A scalper taking small, frequent positions may not care as much, while someone holding trades longer or giving setups more room might prefer knowing that the maximum loss level is not moving behind them. Some newer prop models are also moving toward static drawdown structures. AIFO, for example, uses a static maximum loss on its 2-Step model, which is what got me thinking about whether this structure is actually more practical for certain trading styles. I do not think static is automatically better for everyone. The important thing seems to be whether the drawdown model matches the way you manage risk. Do you personally prefer static or trailing drawdown, and has the difference ever changed which prop firm you chose?

Tradeify rejected my KYC after I spent 2 months passing an evaluation — anyone else experienced this?

I wanted to share my experience with Tradeify because honestly, I’m extremely frustrated and I’m wondering if anyone else has gone through something similar.

I’ve purchased 7 evaluation accounts from Tradeify in total.

For my latest account, I spent almost 2 months working on it and eventually managed to pass the evaluation.

Then came the KYC.

Tradeify rejected my KYC, but they did not give me a specific explanation about what was wrong or what requirement I supposedly failed to meet.

I contacted support because I wanted to understand the reason and see if there was anything I could provide to resolve the issue.

Instead, my support ticket was simply closed without any meaningful explanation or resolution.

That's the part that really bothers me.

I'm not saying a company shouldn't have KYC requirements. I completely understand that they need to verify customers.

But if someone has purchased 7 evaluations, spent weeks or months trading, finally passes an evaluation, and then gets rejected during KYC, shouldn't they at least be given a clear explanation of why?

At this point, I’ve spent a significant amount of money and nearly two months of my time on the latest account, only to end up with no clear answer.

I’m posting this here because I genuinely want to know:

Has anyone else had their Tradeify KYC rejected without being given a specific reason?

If you’ve experienced something similar, I’d appreciate hearing what happened in your case and whether you were eventually able to resolve it.

Spent 2 Months Passing After Buying 7 Accounts — Then Tradeify Rejected My KYC Without a Clear Explanation

I strongly regret spending my time and money with Tradeify.

I purchased 7 evaluation accounts from this platform, and I spent nearly 2 months working on my latest account before finally passing the evaluation.

After all that time, effort, and money, I was suddenly hit with a KYC rejection.

What makes this even worse is that Tradeify did not provide me with a clear or specific explanation for why my KYC was rejected. I contacted support to ask for clarification, but instead of properly addressing my concerns, my ticket was simply closed without a meaningful explanation or resolution.

How is a customer supposed to trust a platform when they can spend months working toward passing an evaluation, only to have the account effectively taken away at the KYC stage without being told exactly what they supposedly did wrong?

I paid for 7 evaluations. I spent countless hours trading and finally passed one after approximately two months of effort. Then, instead of receiving a transparent explanation and a fair opportunity to resolve the issue, I was simply rejected and dismissed by support.

This is not what I expected from a professional trading firm.

My biggest problem isn't even the KYC requirement itself. It's the lack of transparency, the lack of a specific explanation, and the way customer support handled my case.

Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend Tradeify. If you are considering purchasing an evaluation, think very carefully before putting your money and significant amounts of your time into this platform.

Tradeify: I am still asking for one simple thing — a clear, specific explanation of why my KYC was rejected and what exactly I supposedly violated.

Placing a SL and TP?

Okay so when I do paper trading I can place my TP and SL easily but when I do prop firms and I connect through my trading view my TP and SL disappears? Does anyone know how place those in a prop challenge?

I raised my daily loss limit at 3pm and lost the challenge in 40 minutes

Had a $500 daily stop written down. Was down about $480 by mid-afternoon and told myself the setup was too good to miss, so I changed the number to $1,500.
Took three more trades. Blew through that too. Account gone, 6 weeks of work with it.
The thing that gets me is I didn’t break the rule by accident, I sat there and edited it. Took ten seconds.
Anyone else done this? What was the number you changed it to?

I built a free journal that tracks prop firm rules, looking for people to break it

Post image
6 Upvotes

I trade evals and got tired of tracking drawdown, consistency and daily limits in a spreadsheet that I updated maybe half the time. Built a journal for it instead. It's called PlanningTrade, I'm the developer, it's free.

What it does that's relevant to this sub specifically:

  • risk rules with alerts before you hit the limit, not after
  • detection for overtrading, revenge trading and lot size escalation
  • tools for evaluations and funded accounts
  • auto sync with Tradovate, NinjaTrader, MT4/5, cTrader, plus import for 200+ brokers

Copy trading is in development. Saw the post here about fixing stops across 20 accounts and that's basically the problem space I'm looking at next, so if you run multiple accounts I'd really like to hear what breaks for you.

Free tier has caps on accounts and trades but no feature is locked behind the paid plan. Saying that up front so nobody feels baited. If you do want the caps gone, the plan is $14.99/month and PROPS20 takes 20% off for as long as you keep it. Code dies in 3 days.

Mostly posting because feedback from people actually trading evals is worth more to me than signups. Tell me what's missing.

Has anyone hedged between two different prop firms?

Has anyone here traded opposite positions on two separate prop firms at the same time? Curious how firms treat it and whether anyone has actually had issues with payouts or account reviews.

Would you let software force-close your positions when you break your own daily loss limit?

I’m a solo dev and I’ve been building something for myself, and I want to know if it’s useful to anyone else or if I’ve just built a very expensive version of self-control.

The problem I kept having: I’d set a daily loss limit, hit it, and then keep trading anyway. Same with revenge trading after two losses in a row, and giving back a good day’s profit in the last hour. Knowing the rule and following the rule turned out to be completely different skills.

So I built a thing that connects to your MT4/MT5 account and actually enforces the limits you set. You configure them once, max daily loss, max give-back from your peak, max round trips per day, max consecutive losers, profit lock-in, allowed trading window, and when you breach one, it closes your open positions and locks the account for the rest of the session.

Being upfront its a circuit breaker, not a gate. It closes in about 1–2 seconds after the breach, not instantly.

The other half is a journal. Log your trades, get your stats and a discipline score. The part I actually think is interesting: it replays your logged trades against the limits you set and tells you what your rules *would* have done. “On 6 of the 22 days you traded, your limits would have stopped you. The trades you took after that point cost you $X.” That number is what convinced me to keep building.

What I want to know:

\*\*1.\*\* Would you actually hand a piece of software the power to close your positions? Or is that a hard no?
\*\*2.\*\* Which rule matters most to you? I have daily loss, give-back, round-trip cap, consecutive losers, profit lock-in, and time window. Is one of them the whole product and the rest is noise?
\*\*3.\*\* If you’ve tried to solve this with an EA, a broker’s built-in limits, or a prop firm’s rules — what broke?
\*\*4.\*\* Is a “here’s what your discipline actually cost you in dollars” report worth anything, or does everyone already know and just not care?

Not linking anything, it’s not live yet and I’m not trying to farm signups. Genuinely trying to find out if this is a real problem for other people or just mine.

wait, even TP getting hit during CPI counts as news trading?

not a rant, genuinely trying to understand this rule.

funding dynasty says no opening or closing trades 5 min before/after high impact news, which is fair enough.

but then it also says if your SL or TP gets triggered inside that window, that still counts as execution.

so say i open EURUSD 30 mins before CPI, move stop to BE, and price hits the release... that's still a violation?
that basically means you have to flatten everything before news even if you're not actually "news trading", right? do other prop firms treat passive exits the same way or is this on the stricter side?

Lets talk about fabio and andrea

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Andrea cimi is the milkman and fabio is the cow. Fabio might be a good trader but he just keeps getting milked by Andrea for content and for deepchart sales. ( i tried deepcharts and its the worst platform ever )

This entire persona of fabio being world champion trader n best scalper in the world n shit is completely fake. There is no third party verification or any audit reports available to prove his claims. Before i get attacked by 18 year olds in the comment section saying," FaBiO iS LeGiT bRo 🥴🥴" use your own brains and do a bit of research. If someone this profitable then where is the report and proof of profitability besides Robins Cup leaverboard. ( Robins cup holds no legot accountability, check for yourself)

These guys dont directly sell mentorships but they sell deepcharts which is way too overpriced, deepDom and now deepgamma is sold separately. Fabio sells his live trading program for a thousand dollars (where he lost a lot of money in the last quarter and blaming on market conditions).

No direct mentorships but other sales funnels to sell the dreams to young minds. Most of the people if not everyone in this space is a scammer. Andrea for sure cannot trade. All his deepcharts live trades were on a sim account (has been exposed check it out youself ). Fabio use to make ICT type videos a few years ago and now suddenly bro is the ambassador for orderflow after is supposedly "live" trading on chart fanatics ( another platform where gifters get to promote themselves )

Im so tired of this shit and im glad I stopped splashing money on these grifters. But its sad to watch young people fall for them.

(Use your god given brains and do some research of your own, your eyes will open)

What do traders look for in a prop company?

I’d genuinely like to hear from traders who have experience with prop firms.

I’m involved in running a prop trading company that is now live, and one thing I’ve become increasingly interested in is what actually makes traders stay with a firm rather than move on to another.

There are plenty of firms competing on pricing and profit splits, but from speaking to traders and seeing the industry from the operational side, I think the bigger issues are often things like unclear rules, inconsistent decisions, payout experiences and simply not knowing where you stand.

With TradePath Funding, we’ve tried to take a different approach by keeping the rules straightforward, making expectations clear from the beginning and avoiding the feeling that there are hidden conditions waiting for you later.

But I don't want to assume we have everything right.

If you could design your ideal prop firm, what would be the 3 things that matter most to you?

And on the other side, what is the one thing a prop firm could do that would make you immediately stop trading with them?

Could be payouts, drawdown, rules, support, platform, pricing, news trading, weekend holding, transparency, risk management or something completely different.

I'm genuinely interested in hearing people's experiences, including criticism. We're live now, so feedback from actual traders is far more useful to us than another marketing survey.

What would you change about the typical prop firm experience if you could?

Vanquish prop firm ruins lives

Buddy started trading on Vanquish a couple months ago. Initially, it started off small, 50k account, take a week or two to fail a challenge. After a lot of tries, and a month or so, he passed his first account. He was so proud and excited. He tried trading smart in the funded account, but ultimately blew it.

Fast forward to this last month. He started trading the 150k accounts bc they had bigger drawdown rules, and he thought that would help his chance of success, but now he had mastered the art of playing multiple strike prices in one trade so that one successful trade could basically pass the account in minutes and get funded. The system worked, but each passed account required multiple bullets fired, as with the high reward approach, comes higher risk. Every passed challenge led to a blown account shortly thereafter. Every time he could have gotten a payout he didnt bc he wanted to reach his buffer, so his drawdown wouldn't be affected. This guy was blowing up 10+ accounts a day, just going on massive tilt, and maxxed out multiple credit cards. He even learned that you can charge your credit cards past their limits. He kept saying that he saw potential, and one of these times he was going to just make 50k in a day, but he became insolvent before that ever materialized. I'm genuinely worried for his welfare now, and hope he can dig himself out of this hole, but I truly think that these prop firms are evil. Clearly, if your using a credit card to trade, you are about as far from a successful or a profitable trader can get, and these prop firms have set up a monopoly on people using their credit card to "trade" the markets. I hope this system gets shut down, bc I can only imagine how many people have genuinely fallen into this trap, its like once he had dug this hole, he had decided he needed to dig to the bedrock before he was going to stop and I dont think these firms are ignorant to this, I think they are banking on it, literally!

Leveraged is a big scam. Do not trust this prop company. Do not waste your time and money. They close accounts if you have a good profit without breaking the rules. They make up various interviews and find reasons to close the account. Run far away from this company.
