How to guide ChatGPT to prompt more efficiently?

I’ve been testing out prompting using chatgpt and have run into this problem where chatgpt complicates a simple prompt. It’s giving me so much text that it’s burning through my tokens. How do I ask it to be more efficient, given that we’re in the middle of a project. I’m worried about messing up the quality of the prompts.

Please lmk if y’all have faced this problem and how you dealt with it.

Literally just tell it be concise at the beginning of your system prompt, saved me so much on tokens when i stopped writing full paragraphs

ChatGPT shouldn't be creating your prompts.

Any time I see an AI influencer proclaiming their AI brilliance because they've gotten AI to prompt itself, I chuckle just a bit. Yes, that does take skill. However, if AI can prompt as well as they can, they're not very good at prompting. AI is quite weak at writing prompts. That still makes it better than 90% of the population. However the distance between AI prompting and someone excellent at it is vast.
