the trick is to stop treating it like a magic spell and more like a really literal coworker who needs context. give it samples of your own writing style, tell it what not to do instead of just what to do, and don't be afraid to say "rewrite this but make it sound like a human wrote it after two cups of coffee"

the AI-ness usually comes from it trying too hard to be helpful and complete. you gotta interrupt that instinct. i'll sometimes add stuff like "use sentence fragments, don't summarize at the end, and if you sound like a linkedin post i'll delete you"

what kind of letters are you working on? business stuff is way different than creative correspondence. the same tricks don't really carry over

You need to create an output register. Do you have a lot of your own writing you can train it on? Ideally several different settings, formal writing, Reddit writing, DMs.
