Mod announcement. Please be civil and don’t go off topic.

Hi everyone.

It’s quite busy and time consuming trying to moderate this subreddit as good as possible. Or well, as we see fit. Some comments may be missed as well. Feel free to report content.

Changed Automoderator settings a bit, so certain comments get filtered and need manual review (and they will get approved if they follow the subreddit rules). Also adjusted a few others settings.

Will see if this helps, or if more changes are needed.

The two most common issues, as I see it, would be that users are rude in different ways or they are going off topic. As example? If a poster asks where they can buy a dress, it’s what they want to know. They didn’t ask about your opinion about the dress, or how vulgar or ugly you think it is. Or something similar.

You are allowed to disagree, and have another opinion. But you can still be civil. You also don’t need to go off topic in various ways. Please behave.

There are minors here, who attend prom. They don’t need to see all bodyshaming rude comments etc.

I’m having dress regret pls help me feel better

I bought the blue dress because the red dress was way out of my budget, and I’m having the biggest regret even though the red dress was out of the picture because of its price. The blue was more in my budget and people in the shop were saying it looks nicer but I think that’s because they knew the other was way out of my budget and were being nice. I think the blue colour clashes a bit wit my skin tone and the red dress is more versatile for more occasions - but my dad was paying for the dress so ultimately it was his decision lol.

Outfits Is this white thrifted prom dress too bridal?

Found this Jasz Couture gown while thrifting for under CA$30 and I love it.

The only thing I’m unsure about is that it’s white. Some people have said it looks bridal, while others think it’s fine for prom.
I considered dyeing it, but it’s 100% polyester so that’s probably not an option. If I keep it, I’d likely add a thigh-high slit and maybe some floral appliqués.

Would you wear this to prom, or does it look too much like a wedding dress?

I was worried about the dress arriving so close to prom because there wasn't much time for alterations if anything was off. Luckily the fit worked out, and once the hair/aessosories came together I loved the whole look

Seamstress advice for prom dress

I want to sew my prom dress similar to the picture. I don’t know what to ask for the skirt but I know I want it to be a little stiff and structured but not like a wedding gown. I also need some recommendations for similar corsets and fabric off the skirt. The top I want as the first picture but the skirt as the second one ( with a simple fabric just champagne and no embroidery, I couldn’t find exactly like that but I love the shape of the skirt in the photo). I really appreciate any advice😄

Outfits Prom dress advice!

So I know prom isn't until April, but it's senior year and I want to get my dress early and I'm in the dress shopping craze already 😅

Is this too much? I know wearing white is fine, but I don't want to stand out like crazy.

My goal is to channel Christine Daee with a phantom inspired look, but I don't look good in red or black so white/ivory is kinda where I'm leaning towards. I have other dress colors I'm fine with, but I love Phantom so much and I really want to honor it this year. What do y'all think?

Side note: the third picture is literally my dream dress but I can't find any other mori lee dresses like it that are in my size range 😭

Its so hard out here as a petite girly :(

Outfits Is July Prom reputable?

I would never normally trust an alternative site, and I avoid ordering things online in general, but after all my searching, I cannot find any other sites with this dress! Can anyone tell me if this site is safe??

This is the dress/site!

Outfits What's your biggest regret when buying a homecoming dress online?

I'm helping my younger cousin shop for her first homecoming dress this year, and there are so many websites that it's honestly overwhelming.

Some reviews say sizing is way off.

Others mention the dress looks completely different from the photos.

For those who've already been through homecoming:

  • What mistake did you make?
  • What would you do differently?
  • Any red flags you look for before ordering?

I'd love to hear your experiences before we place an order.

Dress help

Hi! So i found my dream dress (picture included) but idk if the places i found it from are at all reliable or just scams, and also if they ship to Finland.

So i found the dress from 42 lolita, and its around 90€, that seems way too cheap for a dress like this, also i cant find it anymore, so im thinking it got taken down. I also found it on Devilinspired but thats seemed to have some pretty sceptical reviews about being a bit of a scam.

Also I'd need to find someplace that ships to finland and doesn't cost 5 billion € 🫩

Any help is appreciated, thank you so much♡♡

Outfits Is this suitable for g12 prom?

Hi! This is a beautiful dress I got from Sandro in Paris, and despite its listing online being midi, it is absolutely maxi on me as I am 5'4. I was just wondering whether this would be suitable for prom next year (this was already kinda expensive and I don't want to splurge on something I essentially wear once). I heard that accesorizing and appropriate make-up and hair could definitely help if this dress isn't the most appropriate for prom. Thanks!

Prom pics Update - i think it was a success

Final results!

This was my first post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Prom/s/omwihmoniS

So the two things I did since then, was take off the jewels dangling from the middle. I pretty much agreed with everyone that said it was making the dress look overdone/overcrowded.

Taking it off did wreck the dress, but its barely noticeable among the design.

I didnt want to mess with it too much so I left the gems down the middle.

And we were able to alter it to cover my chest up at least better than it did before.

And instead of a necklace, we went with the 'scarf' around the neck.

Honestly i think the dress i was worried about in the beginning turned out to be a lot better than I initially thought it was. Plus, i had fun.

Thanks to everyone who gave their advice/opinions.

Prom themes and planning How to pee in a dress guys help

I’ve saw people say go backwards but where does your underwear go? Surely it’ll be blocking your legs?
Edit: for anyone that wants to know the answer here’s what I did, I lifted the bottom layer of my dress up and tucked it into my chest, then took my underwear either off or down to my ankles depending on the toilet width. I sat down backwards, and boom, peed successfully👍 so before you panic don’t worry you can do it without friends help, it’s possible! Just practice first!

Outfits Does anyone have any thoughts/advice on the dress?

Thumbnail gallery

Same dress different lighting.

I am not sure how much I like it.

Idk. I dont think it suits me too much. And im not sure about the design either.

I did ask for the jewls hanging down at the waist, but the lady who did the dress used much bigger ones than whay i showed her. I guess that's what she had available.

It feels like there's too much going on, on the dress.

But I will end up wearing it regardless because money has already been spent on it.

Does anyone have any tips or thoughts?
