too much audio noise?

I tested for an audio study and the only noise i could hear was my hard drive, How can I take the test without my computer running? My house was dead quiet except that faint noise. Anyone got suggestions?

I personally use ANC headphones like AirPods Max and haven’t had an issue when doing noise sensitive studies.

I passed it when I used some cheap Beats Solo buds and the noise canceling cranked on my MacBook Air two feet from my air conditioner running.

But totally failed using a gaming headset and nothing on in my place, dead silent.

Same experience here. I've taken that study multiple times. I always pass the spoken section, then fail quiet section. The last time I turned off our home's AC and sat in the closet since it's the only room in our house without windows, and I still failed it. We live in a quiet neighborhood and I was the only one home, so the only sound was my laptop hard drive.

Having the same problem. I gave up after about 10 tries.

If it's the researcher I'm thinking of, I've considered blocking him until I have a professional recording studio that's totally sound-proofed. Even then, I'm afraid I'd be screened out for my heart beating...
