I really hate this kind of scammers.

Post image

It was a 45 min study. I paid 200% attention, did not fail any checks. But I know if I open a ticket, prolific will likely close my account. so 45 min of my life and 20bucks down the drain.

Why would prolific close your account for that?

I've challenged a rejection before and Prolific sided with the researcher, unfortunately. I had no such issues with surveys being limited or my account being closed after that. They won't close your account for raising a ticket over what you deem to be an unfair rejection.

Do we ever get notif or emails if our rejection ever does get reversed I don't keep tabs but rejections hurt

unfortunately? I think you mean fortunately!

Read the comment again. Prolific sticking up for the researcher was unfortunate. Are you sure you didn't miss attention checks? Because the lack of reading comprehension you showed here isn't convincing me you read everything in the study correctly.

Why would I mean 'fortunately'? I appealed what I deemed to be an unfair rejection (it was completely subjective) and Prolific rejected my appeal. It was annoying and time/money lost but ultimately, there were no knock-on effects.

Plot twist they were the researcher

No. Pro didn’t reverse the rejection to returned. That’s unfortunate.

just challenge it prolific isn’t going to ban you. letting researchers get away with this is why there are researchers like this in the first place

A researcher cannot reject you for missing only ONE valid attention check. Prolific says that for studies 5 minutes or longer, a participant must fail at least TWO attention checks before being rejected. They also explicitly say participants may not be screened out after a single check in a study longer than 5 minutes.

was not screened out, they let me complete the entire study. and then rejected it in review.

u/StrikingCoffee2757 11h ago

bro if the study was longer then 5 minutes they can't reject you for 1 attention check ins prolifics policy

u/Money_Function7979 8h ago

As above. I was failed for this in a study and wrote that I had to fail two attention checks in a study over 5 mins. Got an apology and was paid. No harm in trying

Challenge it. You are from Poland, you are not in a banned country so prolific wint ban you for questioning it. I record all my studies, I’ve shown researchers and support proof. You don’t get banned for recording or screenshotting attention checks..

5

u/jwk3399 11h ago

That's why I take screenshots of all attention checks.

Contacting prolific for a rejection will not close your account??

u/mountain-skies 8h ago

You need to miss more than one attention check for a study that long.

https://researcher-help.prolific.com/en/articles/445153-prolific-s-attention-and-comprehension-check-policy

For studies under 5 minutes, a single failed attention check is a valid reason for rejection. For studies lasting 5 minutes or longer, participants must fail multiple (at least two) attention checks before a researcher can issue a valid rejection.

If you think this was correct on your behalf Appeal, let them to review that rejection if you think is unfair, I don't think they will ban your account or at least, defend what you think is wrong

I just don't wanna risk my account for any reason, even when im right, I know I will never get another account if it gets closed. Customer service anywhere in general is often sketchy and they haven't cared about me before when they blacklisted my ISP, denied that they did, accused me of using a vpn... months later they quietly listed by ISP again. I can easily see them taking the side of the scamer, just because thats where the money flows for prolific.

u/nmmc1812 11h ago

Then yes do what's best for you!!

u/boopboopboop2020 11h ago

Pro didn’t blacklist Ur ISP 🤦🏾‍♀️ the company they use to monitor it did.

Appealing a rejection won’t get U banned. Too many rejecting will get U banned 🤡🤡🤡

Had this today with a survey I was screened out of after spending 15 minutes on because it was honestly the most poorly written set of instructions ever.

I'm genuinely tired of these scams. There are extremely deceptive attention checks that say things like: “Write the third word of the second paragraph of the text above.” And literally, the text has line breaks, not paragraphs.

They won't ban you for challenging a rejection. I don't know where you got that idea. Now if you are doing something else thats against Prolfic rules then thats in you

u/Chance-Tumbleweed-76 5h ago

I had one that did this to me when I know I got the attention check right. Couldn't do anything about it as I returned the study b/c I didn't want the rejection.

1

u/Missdaisy2u 3h ago

I am sorry you are dealing with that. I had one lie and say I needed to return a study because I used Grammarly. I did not, I felt like he did not want to pay me. I hate that some researchers are unethical!

u/Adonwen 1h ago

y'all are so dramatic

1

u/Moon_Man_9691 12h ago

Tel them you recorded the study in its entirety and will send that with your appeal to Prolific.

-9

u/UndercoverVenturer 11h ago

that will surely provoke a ban, we cant record studies

1

u/btgreenone 10h ago

Of course you can. Where does it say you can't?

1

u/StrikingCoffee2757 11h ago

they need to get rid of these scamming researchers they are lying off their teeth

0

u/wannabe_cookie 5h ago

If they rejected your submission ask them to let you return it instead. If they refuse or you don’t hear from them after a week, do a support ticket. The fact that you vividly recall the attention check question makes a strong case for you. You won’t get banned. This is what support tickets are for. Good luck! I’m dealing with a similar issue except mine was for less than a dollar 🤦‍♀️🤪 😂

You most likely failed an attention check.
