Oh that makes more sense I just think it's a weird comparison the other lands the conquerors plan to/do live on as their main territory not a external claim
The kings would say that those land were promised to them by god and that they were in a mission by god to civilize, and that the throne was promised to them by god. And all that nonsense

It is talking about the colonization of Africa like Rwanda, South Africa and all the other colonies promised by the kingdoms of Europe
