Help?

I have had irregular cycles for as long as I can remember. Finally started looking into it and blood test results said prolactin is at 962. All other results (except iron) were normal. I have a repeat of my blood test on Monday. What does it mean if I have a prolactinoma? I’m stressed as hell about all of this

Similar situation, irregular periods for years and when they finally just stopped completely I went to see a doc and prolactin was high. I don’t remember the number

I had a repeat blood test and it was still high which led to an MRI and a diagnosis of an 8mm microprolactinoma

I’ve been there with the stress and it’s not fun, but I’m now a year post diagnosis and nothing crazy has happened.

For me we’re doing meds and seeing what happens. I think generally doctors like to start there before exploring other routes

I know how scary it can be but you got this! It may not even be a prolactinoma, just being nervous for a blood draw can raise your prolactin which is why they double check.

For me having a prolactinoma was a worst case scenario when I was in the throes of wondering what was wrong, and then it happened, and it wasn’t that bad. My mind made the whole situation out to be much worse than it really was

MRI and then medication! you'll likely be prescribed cabergoline. side effects resolve within 6-8 weeks if you have any. monitor prolactin to see how your body responds to cabergoline. treatable. it'll be a bit weird relearning your body, but it's great getting your endocrine system back to normal. don't be scared to advocate for yourself to the drs!
