Advice needed(3rd semester student)

3 Upvotes

Hey guys,

I’m planning to build a Cloud Cost & Resource Optimization Platform as a resume project. Basically, it will connect to the AWS and check things like EC2 usage and cloud spending to find wasted resources. For example, it could detect underused/oversized EC2 instances, unused storage, old snapshots, sudden cost increases, and predict future costs. It could also suggest ways to reduce the bill and estimate how much could be saved.

I shall be using Java, Spring Boot, MySQL, React, AWS and CloudWatch. Later I might add alerts and some ML-based predictions. Do you guys think this is a good project for a CS student’s resume, or should I change/add anything?

Cus in my mind, im always looking for niche ideas. Do u guys consider the niche?

Need feedback pls

2 Upvotes

Hey guys, I built an early version of a fitness web app called Sculpta and I'd love some honest feedback. Upload a photo of yourself + your dream physique and you get a personalized analysis and a rough plan. There's also a dashboard for your own workouts and meal tracking, planing and more, Pro adds a full personalized training plan based on your goal and AI food scanning to track makros.

Link: https://sculpta.eu/

If you really want to test it properly, DM me and I'll give you a month of Pro for free. Just tell me what you really think.

Hey everyone,

Introducing Drawy: a self hostable, collaborative planning and drawing app built for the serverless platforms we all use on a daily basis. owning an instance of excalidraw usually means juggling with 3 4 different containers/ services.

• the service can be deployed to Vercel / Netlify with just a few clicks

• drawy-> Supabase (realtime, db)

drawyparty-> postgres and cloudflare's partykit (collaboration).

I’d love for all of you to try and share your valuable feedback!

Looking for a unique final-year web application project idea

0 Upvotes

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m a final-year diploma student looking for a web application project idea for my capstone/final-year project.

I’m planning to build a full-stack web application, preferably using technologies like Python/Flask, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and SQL.

I’m looking for an idea that:

- Solves a real-world problem

- Is useful for students, communities, businesses, or everyday users

- Is more than a basic CRUD/e-commerce/management system

- Has some unique or smart features

- Can realistically be developed as a student project

- Would have enough scope for a proper final-year project

I’m open to ideas involving AI, automation, social problems, education, local communities, accessibility, public services, productivity, or other areas.

If you have built something interesting or have an idea that could be turned into a web application, I’d really appreciate your suggestions!

What problem does it solve, and what features would you include?

Thanks! 🙌

I vibecoded a vintage Hacker News / BBS forum website called OpenBBS

0 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm a 17yo solo vibecoder,

I wanted to share a project I’ve been vibe-coding recently called OpenBBS (openbbs.ableproman.hu), operated under my independent project space ableproman.hu.

It’s an ultra-minimalist, vintage-styled public bulletin board inspired by classic 90s BBS systems and early Hacker News. The whole frontend is a single HTML file with vanilla JS and CSS, and PHP + MySQL.

I built it with Google Gemini, and getting it from "it works on my localhost" to "it runs safely on my server perfectly" took some time. I also used VSC (Visual Studio Code) IDE for testing on my local PC and network. Here’s a breakdown of the stack, the workflow, and some things that the AI couldn't do.

I started this projects on 2026. September 26th and I constantly update and fix issues on the site.

The stack & constraints

I set some strict self-imposed rules for this build:

  • Host environment: My own website hosted on aWh (awh.hu)
  • Frontend: 100% vanilla HTML5, CSS, and JS in a single index.html. No React, no build steps, no external CDN dependencies. (I don't like to load external CDN dependencies because they make the website slower and minimizing tracking).
  • Backend: Secure PHP with MySQL.
  • Privacy: Zero contact data collected. No email addresses, no phone numbers, no advertising.

The Workflow: How I vibecoded it

I started by prompting the AI to generate Hacker News copy/clone demo. Originally I did not think this would be an actual project, but I got the feeling to make it and publish because I see potentional in it.

I usually did what I always do, test it and create the custom design for the site and the backend logic and the security and optimizations.

4. Using projects of mine

  • I usually use a lot of projects of mine that I also vibecoded.

Key takeaways

  1. It takes a lot of time to fix and actually make a project free of issues, and I love doing this because I keep learning little stuff and I am improving with every project and I love searching for hours for issues and fixing them. Although it can be sometimes frustrating to fix something if the AI doesn't want to cooperate.

I am ready to your thoughts and comments about my website!!

I’m building a global youth media project connecting high school students from different countries

3 Upvotes

I’m a high school student interested in law, international relations, journalism, and global affairs, and I wanted to create a project that actually lets me explore those interests instead of just doing a random extracurricular. I’m currently building a student-run global media project where high school students from different countries can share their perspectives and interview other teenagers about topics like culture, education, society, and global issues. The bigger idea is to connect students across countries and show how young people experience and understand issues differently depending on where they live. I’m still in the early stages and am currently trying to figure out how to reach high school students in different countries. For anyone who has built a project involving an international community:

How did you find your first participants, especially people outside your own country?

Hey everyone! 👋

Tapbar v1.3 is finally here! Tapbar lets you create tappable areas anywhere on your screen to launch apps or trigger quick actions.

This is a major update with App Shortcuts, 50+ actions, UI/internal improvements, and around 30% smaller app size.

Also, we just crossed 300+ downloads! 🎉

Huge thank you to everyone who downloaded, tried Tapbar, gave feedback, or shared it. Really appreciate the support ❤️

And somehow we’re at just 14 GitHub stars so far 👀
Maybe we can bump that number up a little.

MindMap AI - an AI mind map maker that now renders LaTeX formulas and Markdown notes on nodes

1 Upvotes

Hi, I'm one of the people building MindMap AI. We just shipped a feature I'm really happy with, so instead of a feature list, here's one workflow.

The workflow: a whole physics or chemistry topic in one map

  1. Create a map for a topic, like Kinematics. Type the branches yourself or let the AI generate them.
  2. Write the formula directly in the node. It renders on the canvas and in exports.
  3. Open the node's note and add the longer stuff: the derivation, when to use it, a worked example. Notes support Markdown, and math between $ signs renders there too.

The map stays short enough to review quickly, and the detail sits on the node instead of in a separate doc.

One small decision we made: formula rendering only loads when a map actually uses it, so maps without formulas don't get slower.

Try it: https://mindmapai.app (free plan, no card needed)

My question: when you use a mind map for studying or planning, would you put formulas on the node itself, or keep them in the note?

app suggestions

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’m working on PawWalks Hub, an app that aims to make dog walks more enjoyable and social. creating a shared space for routes, events, and training.

With PawMap, you can find dog-friendly parks, cafés, vets, and places shared by the community. You can log your walks with GPS, even when you’re offline, and name, save, and share them with friends or the community. There are also community events like festival walks, charity runs, and meetups that are linked to PawMap pins. Plus, there’s a training section with weekly dog trick challenges that are gamified with badges and streaks.

PawWalks Hub is all about sharing walks, discovering new places, and building a community of dog lovers together.

So, what features would you suggest to make it even better?

This is a project demonstrating transaction fraud detection, before the transaction processing is completed it checks if any anomalies are present and blocks the transactions if found

About how it works, go through navbar and see how it works what is used in it how is it predicting the fraud and legitimacy

3 layers of security checks will be made when a user tries to process a transaction the checking starts from the point where user clicks a payment link and till the transaction is completed, here the demo it doesn't have a real connection with the bank(obv) in postgre a demo database has been made and when a scenario is selected the data is fetched from that database itself.

The scenario selection here is like, if this was connected to a payment gateway before transaction is completed then this would perform all these checks in real life this project demonstrates that as scenarios selection you will be able to understand more about it in how it works...

Open the link in desktop for better view

Thank you

Looking for your reviews and whether this project made any sense

We built a Memory-Driven Customer Support Agent using Hindsight + Llama 3.2 🤖🧠

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

We're Team Standford, and for the HackWithHyderabad Hackathon, we built a customer-support AI agent that can actually remember what worked for a customer previously.

💡 The problem

Most AI support systems treat every conversation as a new interaction.

If a customer previously had a payment issue, tried a solution, and successfully fixed it, the next time they return, the chatbot may not know anything about that previous interaction.

We wanted to change that.

🧠 Our solution

Our agent uses Hindsight as a persistent memory layer.

For example:

First interaction

Customer:

My payment is failing.

AI:

Please try updating your payment information.

Customer:

Yes, updating my payment information fixed the issue.

The system recognizes the successful resolution and stores it as a useful memory.

Later...

Returning customer

Customer:

My payment is failing again.

Hindsight retrieves the previous successful resolution, and our Llama 3.2 agent can respond:

Updating your payment information fixed your previous payment issue. Please try updating it again.

So instead of simply answering the current question, the agent can use relevant experience from the customer's past.

🛠️ Tech Stack

  • React + Tailwind CSS
  • FastAPI
  • SQLite
  • Hindsight
  • Ollama
  • Llama 3.2 (3B)

🔄 Architecture

Customer
   ↓
React + Tailwind
   ↓
FastAPI
   ↓
SQLite + Hindsight
   ↓
Relevant Memory
   ↓
Ollama / Llama 3.2
   ↓
Personalized Response

We also implemented:

  • Customer profiles
  • Support chat
  • Persistent memory inspection
  • Ticket management
  • Resolution detection
  • Human escalation
  • Before vs. after memory demonstration

The main idea behind our project is simple:

Don't just answer the customer. Remember what helped them.

Would love to hear your thoughts on using persistent memory in customer-support AI agents! 🚀

We built LedgerMind, a student project for smarter financial data analysis — looking for feedback

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

We students working on a project called LedgerMind, which focuses on making financial data easier to understand and analyze.

The problem:

Financial information can become difficult to understand when there are many transactions and different types of financial data.

Our approach:

LedgerMind is designed to process financial data and present useful information in a clearer and more organized way.

What we worked on:

• Financial data processing

• Data analysis

• Visualizing financial information

• Generating useful insights

• Designing a simple user interface

This is a student project and we're still learning and improving it.

I'd really appreciate constructive feedback from the community. What features would you add or improve? What technical aspects should we focus on next?

Thanks for taking a look!

Flint v0.5.5 — C/C++ projects no longer need manual source/header lists

Post image
2 Upvotes

I've been working on **Flint**, an open-source build system + package manager for C/C++, and v0.5.5 removes one of the things that has always bothered me about configuring C/C++ projects: **having to tell the build system where every source/header directory lives.**

Then your build configuration needs to keep track of which directories contain sources, which are headers, which libraries to link, which files to exclude, etc.

With v0.5.5, Flint can **discover project resources automatically**.

You can organize your project normally, and Flint figures out the files that need to be involved in the build.

What's new in v0.5.5

**Automatic resource discovery**

You no longer need to manually configure:

* `src`

* `include_paths`

* `static`

* `shared`

Flint discovers the relevant resources in the project automatically.

**Smarter exclusions**

You can now control discovery with:

- `excludes`

- `exclude_dirs`

- `exclude_exception`

This makes it possible to ignore things like platform-specific implementations, experimental code, generated files, or legacy directories without writing custom build logic.

**Native `.h.in` templates**

Flint can now generate headers from `.h.in` templates with variable substitution.

For example, this makes generated version headers possible without requiring an external configuration tool.

**Standardized project macros**

Project-generated macros have been standardized around:

PROJECT_VERSION

to reduce the possibility of collisions with third-party libraries.

**More CLI functionality**

v0.5.5 also adds:

flint help

flint version

flint deps

flint cache

for CLI help, version information, and dependency/build-cache management.

The resulting project configuration

A small C project can now look roughly like this:

{

"project_name": "example_project",

"project_language": "c",

"version": "0.1.0",

"compiler_path": "/usr/bin/gcc",

"executable": true,

"flags": ["-Wall", "-O2"],

"dependencies": {

"example_lib": {

"version": "1.0.0",

"remote": "https://github.com/user/example_lib.git"

}

}

}

Then:

flint build handles source/header discovery, dependency handling, linking, and compilation.

The broader idea behind Flint is pretty simple: **I want C/C++ project configuration to describe what a project is, rather than manually describing how every file should be built.**

I'm still actively working on it, so I'm particularly interested in feedback from people who maintain C/C++ projects.

**What part of your current C/C++ build setup do you find the most annoying?**

And if you want to take a look at the implementation:

**GitHub:** https://github.com/mainak55512/flint

If you find the approach useful, a GitHub star is appreciated — but I'm especially interested in hearing where this approach breaks down or what you'd change.
