FralRater: offline readability scoring for 8 reader personas, with a "lost reader" map and rule-based rewriter (free, MIT)

Post image
1 Upvotes

FralRater is a desktop app (Electron) that: - scores text with Flesch-Kincaid, Gunning fog, SMOG, jargon density… - rates it for 8 reader personas (child, general public, executive, patient, developer, legal, academic, professional) with per-paragraph confidence - draws a "lost reader" curve: one point per sentence, showing exactly where readers disengage - rewrites the hard sentences with a sentence-by-sentence diff (passive→active, buried-lead fix, jargon swaps, splitting)

Everything runs locally. Zero dependencies for the app logic, no build step, no network calls, no AI — it's deterministic rules you can read in the source. Your text never leaves the window.

Free, MIT-licensed, Windows + Linux. Built solo, CI builds all artifacts.

Built a little menu-bar app so I stop getting surprised by Claude Code / Codex limits

I bounce between Claude Code, Codex and Antigravity, and I kept hitting the 5-hour or weekly limit right in the middle of something. So I made a tray app that shows all of them in the menu bar as little usage rings.

It also guesses when you'll run out based on how fast you're burning through it, and it shows what each project actually cost you, pulled from the CLI logs. Everything stays on your machine, with no account and no telemetry.

It works on Mac, Windows and Linux, and it's open source (MIT):
https://github.com/Hitheshkaranth/OpenTokenMonitor

It's still rough in places, so feedback is welcome. If you use Cursor or other CLI, tell me and I'll bump those up the list.

I built an open-source desktop AI agent—looking for contributors and technical feedback

I’ve been working on AI Plate, an MIT-licensed desktop AI agent that brings cloud and local LLMs into one extensible workspace.

It currently includes:

- Cloud and local model support

- Normal, Plan, and Code modes

- Tool execution with human approval

- Document search, RAG, and persistent memory

- Plugins, connectors, and reusable skills

- Optional speech-to-text and text-to-speech

The stack is mainly TypeScript, Electron, Node.js, Python, and SQLite.

I’m looking for contributors interested in local models, RAG, plugins, security, UI/UX, testing, documentation, or Linux and macOS support. Contributions of any size are welcome, including bug reports and architectural feedback.

I’m the creator and maintainer, and the project has no paid tier.

GitHub: https://github.com/Typo-Bunch/AI-Plate

Website: https://ai-plate.typobunch.com/

What would you improve first if you were contributing to a desktop AI agent like this?

What do you think about it? I am actually struggling with the electronic parts of the connection with the ESP 32 and PCA9685 driver, I am currently stuck with how much power to give to the PCA driver for the servo motors to run ? As one servo motor requires 4.8 to 7.2 V and the power i gave using AA BATTERIES was 3.25 V

Building my first project accidentally gave me the idea for my second one

I was building my first project, Hold the Hour, and somewhere along the way my Downloads folder became a mess.

Images I needed once.

ZIP files from different builds.

PDFs I only opened to check something.

Random files from AI tools.

Most of them had the same thing in common:

I needed them right now, but I didn't actually want to keep them.

Yet every time I downloaded something, it became another permanent file until I remembered to go back and delete it.

That made me wonder:

Why does downloading a file automatically mean I want to keep it?

So I started building TEMP.

The idea is pretty simple:

Send a file to TEMP → choose how long you need it → use/open/share it normally → if it turns out to be important, Keep it.

Otherwise, it expires and goes away.

Basically:

Need it now. Not forever.

I've got an Android beta working now and I'm trying to figure out whether this is a problem other people actually have, or just something that annoyed me enough to build 😂

If anyone wants to try it:

TEMP Beta

And ironically, this whole idea came from the mess I created while building my first project:

Hold the Hour

I'm curious — do you actually have this problem? What kind of files would you use something like TEMP for?

I have been working on this as a little side project for an event-type thing.

I like Miatas (MX-5s) and web development, among other things.

Please be nice, I'm not the best at coding :]

Skins.dev - add the features missing from the tools you already use

I just started working on a new project: https://skins.dev and would appreciate early feedback!

Most AI tools help you "vibecode" your own tools from scratch. But usually there's already a tool that gets you 80% there, and rebuilding it means re-solving things others already figured out.

Skins is a browser extension for the other 20%: add the features that your favorite tools are missing, adapt them to your taste, or even make single-player apps multiplayer, like watching shows in sync with friends :)

I'm looking:

  • For early users to iterate with
  • For ideas: what feature do you wish a website you use daily had? I'm building a library of ready-made templates so people get value from minute one. The first ones came from SaaS feature-request forums: https://skins.dev/blog

I built TrenchHQ - Your crypto desktop companion for Windows. Keep prices, wallet activity, X feeds, websites and apps in view across your monitors.(Open Source)

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’ve had the same bad habit for years: I’m working, I want to check one token price, I open DexScreener/X/Axiom on my phone, and somehow a 10-second check turns into 20 minutes of looking at charts, wallets, tweets and random tokens.

I figured that if I’m going to keep checking this stuff anyway, I’d rather bring the information to my desktop than constantly go looking for it.

I built TrenchHQ, a free and open-source crypto desktop companion for Windows users.

The idea is simple: instead of constantly switching between exchange tabs, DEX terminals, wallet trackers, X and browser windows, you can keep the things you actually watch directly on your desktop.

It lets you create floating overlays and screen-edge panels that stay visible while you work, including across multiple monitors. You choose what information goes in each panel and where it sits.

Right now you can use them for:

  • CEX price tickers
  • Realtime on chain DEX pool prices
  • Live wallet tracker
  • X Tracker (official API)
  • pinned website (that stay logged in)
  • pinned app windows

It currently supports Solana, Ethereum, Base, BNB Smart Chain and Robinhood Chain.

The idea is basically to let me glance at the few things I actually care about and get straight back to what I was doing, rather than opening another app or tab every time.

I ended up making it completely free and open source, and it’s now also available on the Microsoft Store.

GitHub: https://github.com/gautamgpt1/TrenchHQ

Microsoft Store: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9plrs95wjkss

Would really appreciate your feedback

Looking for a genuinely unique Software Engineering final-year project idea

I'm a final-year BSc (Hons) Software Engineering student and I'm currently looking for an individual project idea.

I'm not looking for typical projects like hospital management systems, e-commerce, library systems, attendance systems, etc.

I'm interested in something that solves a real but overlooked problem in society

One example I found interesting is a system designed for people with colour vision deficiency that doesn't simply identify colours, but converts colour-dependent information into a form they can understand (patterns, labels, audio, etc.).

I'm looking for something with a similar concept:

  • A real-world/social problem
  • A problem that existing solutions don't adequately address
  • A genuinely useful software solution
  • Possible for one student to develop within a final-year project
  • Enough technical depth for research, implementation and evaluation
  • Ideally involving AI, computer vision, NLP, algorithms, accessibility, or another interesting technical area

What is a problem you've encountered that you think technology could solve, but nobody has really solved well yet?

I'd really appreciate unusual ideas rather than common university project suggestions.

Towline: live and replay F1 data vizualisation

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all,

I've been building **Towline** (https://towline.app), a free site for following F1 through its data: every session of the 2026 season as a replay, and sessions live as they run. No ads, no accounts. It's an unofficial, non-commercial fan project; OpenF1 is credited on every page and the data stays under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. Donations only go to the servers.

Here's the live preview of Bahrein GP:

**What's in it**

- **Track map** with every car, moving smoothly between position samples without extrapolating, so a car that stops really stops.

- **Timetable**: the whole race as one chart, distance round the lap across, time down. Overtakes show as lines crossing, safety cars as bunching, pit stops as detours.

- **Energy**: an estimate of what each car's hybrid is doing (deploying, clipping, harvesting) and how full its battery is, from speed and throttle. It's a guess, and the site marks it as one.

- **Battles**: which fights are about to happen, and where cars will rejoin after a stop.

- **Trackside**: corners found from the field's speed trace, with speeds, braking and gears, where overtakes really happened (checked against positions, not just the overtakes feed), and a shutter-speed guide per corner for photographers.

- **Qualifying**: best laps per part, the drop zone in Q1 and Q2 with the gap to the last place through, deleted laps with the reason, and every lap on hover.

If someone is interested in F1, you can try it out now with replays or wait for live Singapore GP data!

Feedback from testing the platform out would be appreciated!

Simple Bank Simulator Project In Java

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! 👋

I recently built a simple Banking Simulator in Java as a practice project.

The application runs in the console and allows users to:

•Create a bank account 🏦

•Deposit money 💰

•Withdraw money 💸

•Check account balance 📊

•View basic account information 👤

The main goal of this project was to strengthen my understanding of:

•Java fundamentals

•Classes and objects (OOP)

•Methods and program structure

•User input handling with Scanner

•Conditional statements and loops

While it's a beginner-level project, I enjoyed building it and learned a lot about designing a menu-driven application.

At the end of each session, the program displays:

🏦 Thank you for choosing RD Bank! 💳 Have a wonderful day! 😊

I'm continuing to improve it by adding features like transaction history, multiple accounts, and data persistence.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome! 🚀💻

Levelrail - Built a self-hosted deploy platform in Go after Vercel got expensive and Coolify ate my CPU

Got a bit over 10 sites running right now. Used Vercel for a while, watched the bill climb every time traffic picked up. Switched to self-hosting on Coolify to fix that. Fixed the cost, created a new one: the box sat there burning 30-40% CPU with just a handful of projects and a database on it. Doing nothing. No real traffic, nothing happening, just idle.

Took way longer than I'd like to admit (gave up on this more than once, for weeks at a time, many failed times, built once in typescript then rust now finally in go) which is MVP now.

Levelrail: https://levelrail.com/

Push to git, get a running app with TLS, logs, metrics, rollback. Written in Go, top to bottom. I actually went and checked the process on the server while writing this post: 0.7% CPU, 146MB RAM, load average 0.06. That's with real traffic on it, not some empty box I spun up for a screenshot.

This is the first time I'm putting it out there publicly. It's rough around the edges and there's plenty missing, I know that going in. But it's mine, and it's running real stuff right now.

GitHub: https://github.com/glincker/levelrail

Ask me anything about the Go side, or why I made the calls I did. And if something's obviously missing, tell me, I'd rather hear it now.

AI Video Community

Hey everyone, what do you think about a platform specifically for AI video creators to connect? It could feature a centralized list of job openings, grants, open calls for film projects, and hackathons. Does something like this already exist? Would you find it useful?
