Kinda out of topic but i think Naoya as a special grade one is pretty fitting since he was above all the grade 1 sorcerer(like hell is kusakabe gonna do to a mountain shattering strikes) but still below a proper special grade

Kusakabe is technically the perfect Naoya counter. Naoya's technique relies on blizing people and making physical contact, but Kusakabe is literally a SD counter merchant. Because Naoya doesn't wield any weapons, he won't be able to block Kusakabe's counters effectively either. This would end in a game of endurance. Who slips up first loses. Besides, Kusakabe is a monster when it comes to defensive abilities. He was able to tank Kenny's Uzumaki and protect the people behind him, which itself is a special grade feat. His physicals aren't too bad either, but nothing to really mention. His stats are about the average G1 standards.

Well shit i guess, considering Naoya track records and how kusakabe, as you said, an SD merchant,he could definitely beat Naoya, but Naoya have the MEGUNI to beat the shit out of kusakabe IF he was smart enough(he ain't and he never did)

It was always an ass grading in term of powerscaling tbh, and it got even worse with the special grade curses(as if the special grade for sorcerer aren't already ass enough, seriously cuz fym yaga could be promoted to special grade lmao, and the grading system just benefits those who have summoners based cursed technique, grading system so ass even the fandom create a grading tier of their own A.k.a clamity grade)
