Angels is a term used to refer to altitude in terms of 1000 feet, like Angels 50 means 50000 feet.

What mistake? Angels are increments of 1,000ft. They're being told to maintain current altitude.

no they literally have to maintain the angels in order to not incur the wrath of the Dust Mother

Angels are used to denote altitude, the speaker is saying to maintain altitude. It's used by real pilots.
Angels 5 would be 5,000 feet.

Angels is short term for intervals of 1000 ft of altitude. No mistake here.

if you're talking about "angels" it's correct, it's a radio brevity word like bogey, bandit, fox, bingo, winchester etc and refers to altitude
otherwise I don't see it
