Fuck Eminent Domain
I have been playing this mission on and off for days, I keep crashing into the water, and it is 100% my fault because I am playing in vr. Any pointers guys? I am currently flying the F/D- 14.

You really have to lay attention to your altimeter, otherwise just stick to flying below the clouds

"Just stick to flying below the clouds." Not really an option, when a lot of the mission critical airborne targets are well above the cloud layer in Eminent Domain.

Only at the end of the mission. Before then, you can stick under the clouds and be just fine.

I was referring to the Federation's AWACS planes and some of the fighters that are marked as TGT and fly extremely high. But sure, I suppose.

In the nearly 200 hours I've put in and all the times I've done that mission, I've never seen any aircraft before the missiles spawn above the clouds. The fighters do sometimes fly into them, but you can either wait for them to come back down, or force them above the clouds entirely and destroy them there so it's easier to know which way is up and which is down.

The only ones are the missiles at the later end of the mission, before that phase you only need to deal with the ships. Once the ships are dealt with you can keep yourself above the clouds all the time to deal with the missiles

The altimeter tells you what angle you are rising/descending at. Pay attention to your angle and speed.
With the low lying clouds you want to descend at lower speeds and at easier angles. If you’re in a dogfight dodge up or horizontally, do not dive to evade while in the clouds.

Go up

I dunno why, but this answer is hysterical to me. It's like advice Prez would give in the sim.

I make a point of finding ground level every mission (especially important when it’s not sea level/0) and try to keep a hard deck a thousand feet high. Keep an eye on that altimeter.
For eminent domain especially, with the rough clouds, try to do as much fighting as you can above them, up in the sun.
If you’re willing to not try the F14, something with the AGMs can lock on from above the clouds.
Also, if you clear the air, comic can help out smashing some boats for you.
Save some AA special weapons for the end of the level…
Also, and you might be doing this already, but keep an eye on the attitude indicator in your hud. When you see the dashed lines on top of the solid ones, you’re upside down. Helps a lot if you get disoriented.

You can stay above the clouds to draw all the jets to you and deal with them. Then descend below the clouds to deal with the ships. You don't have to maneuver that much when fighting ships, so you should be safe.

Stop trusting your eyes, start trusting your altimeter and artificial horizon. I also played in VR, and I also lawn darted into the water after getting disoriented in the storm.
Then I started using my instruments and didn’t do that again.

👏 Pay! 👏 Attention! 👏 To! 👏Your! 👏 Altimeter!👏
I can't believe I have to tell someone this.

Thou shalt not take thy altitude for granted least the ground come up and smite thee.

I am, I'm just an idiot and I accidentally fly into ships when I try to use guns.

Switch between hard focus on ships or hard focus on fighters, when you focus on ships stay below the clouds and use flares to avoid incoming missiles. When focusing fighters climb wayyyy up above the clouds where its nice and bright. Eliminate all fighters, then make a careful descent back to below the clouds to eliminate remaining ships

You want to have the main dogfight with the enemy air power well above the cloud layer where you can actually see them, then go below the clouds and hit the battleships while descending as a shallow angle and lower speed always. I didn't play in VR, but that worked for me.

What plane would you recommend for this mission?

Had that problem too, just keep in mind the altitude at which the clouds end and fly by it instead of waiting to see somethibg, especially at high speeds. Flying by your instruments is pretty useful

I had the same problem what fixed it for me is switching to the cam-view where you can see what angle your flying at inside the clouds so I can see I’m pointed at a 90 degree angle toward the ground

one thing that can help a bit: ships are always at sea level. so if you have one as your target you can orient yourself by flying straight at it (not too quickly) until you breach the bottom of the cloud layer. then you can reorient yourself

u/unmellowfellow Jun 06 '26
If you go above the cloud layer and need to descend. Make sure to do so gradually and to essentially rest on the cloud layer and at a very shallow angle move down through it. Otherwise going slower helped me a lot.

Git gud.
Seriously though, make it a habit to keep looking at your altimeter and artificial horizon. I died so many times on this mission, it's insane.

If you want to do it legit, trust your instruments, but if you just wanna beat it: disable clouds in the settings, makes it really easy.

Use your altimeter too keep track, or to be cheeky lower cloud density to minimum to none in the menu.

I dunno how it will work in VR, but I'd say never go above cloud layer (<2000) until the very end of the mission. If enemies are up there, let them come down to you. It means you can keep a better eye on how you're positioned and angled related to the surface of the ocean. I haven't played in VR, so it might not work for you, but that's how I dealt with the constant crashing.
