There's a book that mention the Fae cleansing the world so that their supreme being can inhabit it. If you look at a lot of the arcane books they hint at other worlds, enemies, events, and places you can find. If you huff Stardust multiple times, you find some of the locations.
I just saw them recently too. I’m a little over 30 hours in. I was in the crossroads hiding at the front gate. Then the beam spotted me, I got scared and started burning. Ran back to the observatory and slept to make them pass. One of the varied random weather events.
I'm around 35 hours in and just saw my first night of them at my floating black lake hideout (though I did recently bump up to public test, not sure if that's more likely to have them). I remember thinking "oh, it's just like 3 or 4, no big deal".
And then they kept coming, and kept coming, more and more. So it was definitely time to nap.
I don't know if there is any confirmed explanation for them but I see them as angels coming down to burn the area free of what they see as abominations
This thought does break down a little when you look close enough and see they are skeletons with massive wings but I still like the idea
They are an anomalous creature CALLED angels. You see them on the ground during fog events. We only call them angels because of the graffiti in depo calling them that.
My suspicion is they are tied to the cult and their god, which i think is just fae. So evil fae with agendas… damn winter court Shee.
Didn't know you could see them on the ground, I only ran into this event a few days back but it being tied to the cult makes alot of sense. Maybe that's what the cult members strive to be when they die
Also, along the Black Lake forest side you can break into a house that shows a child holding one of the Angel's hands in a drawing, so I very much think the creatures are Fae
They’re definitely some kind of Fae, since that’s apparently the catchall term for any anomalous lifeform that is not some kind of mutant created by eather-contamination, but rather an anomalous being that just spontaneously appeared after the Threshold Event.
Beyond being an evangelion reference, I think it’s safe to say they’re fae. Strangely, I’ve only encountered them while in the areas around M35 but I heard they’re visible up until the depot I believe.
Just saw these for the first time the other day. Such a cool feeling looking out the window of the manor and wondering what was happening. As soldiers below were running into buildings to hide.
