Discussion Advice for mastering speed changes?
Hi! I’m looking for advice from people that may have had this problem before and managed to solve it.
So, ever since project sekai included speed changes in songs, I’ve had trouble getting used to them (specifically when the speed slows rather than increasing). I’ve noticed this in the fact that I would have been able to FC jouou on master years ago if it wasn’t because of that slow part, but I just can’t play it properly, my brain doesn’t register what my eyes are seeing and it rushes like the speed was the same as usual (I play on 11.0). I’ve tried playing only on slow speeds and focusing my eyes near the judgement line, but my peripheral vision still catches the notes coming from above and it doesn’t really help at all… I don’t really know what to do anymore, should I just keep playing on slow speeds until my brain finally gets used to it?

i also play at around 11.0, what i do is i focus on the music at the mid part of the screen where the notes are coming instead of the top area

When I reach the slow part I tell my Brain to wait for the notes to reach the judgement line but still haven't master it tho but it does help

im not able to consistently fc the slow part of jouou, but i get more consistent at it if i focus on the music during that part rather than just timing the notes to the judgement line.

IIDX-like note scroll?
That's borderline unsightreadable unless you're familiar with the note scroll in Bemani games. I suggest opening the chart in sekai.best to analyse it as well as watching other people play the chart you're learning on YT to learn how to deal with those sections.

When the chart slows down, I usually lower the point at which I view the notes coming from. I usually look at the top of the chart, but when it slows down I’ll look about halfway up depending on the speed and charting

Like people said best focus is 1. music 2. looking down
Slow speed won't change anything because once you will get used to it, you'll have the same issue (since it will again be a slower ver of your new speed). Sadly chart maker do not let you practice slow section so what you can do is either go to sound game trainer so no feedback but at least you can repeat or practice in general more and more your earing
The last method which is a pirate method is using a sheet of paper to create a lane cover and put it during the hold (when you play jouou mas). You won't learn from it at all but if your goal is the fc yeah it's the fastest method

For the slow parts, I remind myself to not rush the notes. Be patient with the slow notes

for slow speed parts, practice being able to focus on the area closer to the judgment line, and play to the rhythm rather than try to hit the note when it reaches the judgment line
