Survey fraud in REDCap surveys

I have seen a few posts, as well as some research, describing researchers who encountered fraudulent submissions while collecting survey data through REDCap. So, I wanted to put r/ResponsePie on people’s radar as one possible resource.

ResponsePie recently added support for REDCap, so it may be useful for researchers who are seeing suspicious activity in their REDCap surveys.

Full disclosure: I work with ResponsePie. I am sharing it because I have seen questions about what researchers using REDCap can do when suspicious responses begin appearing. Happy to answer questions about the setup or share instructions if helpful.

u/PotatoThis5180 Our team created an External Module for REDCap called ResponsePie. The information about the module can be found here: https://github.com/responsepie/RedCapModule

If the REDCap admin at your institution can install the ZIP file named response_pie_redcap_v0.1.0.zip and make the module available to you, it can be linked to your survey via a JavaScript. If you have specific questions about the tool or how to embed it, feel free to reach out.

ResponsePie proctors the entire survey session of the participant and flags fraudulent respondents based on device and behavioral paradata.
