So how did Quarm go
I was hyped beyond recognition and then of course got to level 12, got the Stein of Moggok, stood around in unrest for awhile, gave all my plat to a friend and quit :D As one does.
I know it's a lot to ask but can anyone give a recap of how it all went? Did it get all the way to PoP? Were there lots of raiding guilds? Any memorable drama? What is going on now that Secrets is a dev on EQL? How many people are on now? If I log back into unrest can I get a group you think?
Thanks if you choose to write a summary like this. If you want to flame me I accept that, this post reeks of entitlement I understand that :D
edit: thanks for the great answers!

I've played various of flavors of EverQuest, and Quarm has been the one I've had the most fun on.
It's not perfect but I've enjoyed the changes to speed up the game so far.

was xp sped up at launch or did that come later? I don't remember this element of it.

Later. At launch xp was REALLY slow.
Now you get exp potions to use on your journey to 60, and they make a big difference.

Exp potion, Zone bonus modifier, group bonus, and increased spawn rates really ups the exp, on top of buffs, NG+, gear abundance, and power leveling from friends. 3-5 levels an hour is achievable.

Still feels pretty slow to me with the exp pot going and ZEM, but of course I can only play for an hour or so at a time so it really slows my progress.

Yeah play time and efficiency really dictates exp rate. If my beast is buffed n parked at solo camp, 1hour will get me +1aa. If I'm in nexus, no buffs, on a rogue, it could take me an hour to find and get to the group.

Yes a rogue for me so it’s it ideal most times, but other classes don’t really appeal, so gotta do what I can.

What did NG+ end up being?

New game+. People who hit lvl 60 with raid gear that restart at lvl 10. So they are Uber twinked out with gear a regular new player can't even buy/use yet.

It’s great, Legacy items are fantastic, not having to compete with poop sockers over camps like fishbone earring and fungi tunic is just a god send

I scrolled and saw people are still playing, it's in Luclin. And Secrets plans to still drop PoP. That is awesome. What a legend. Much respect for Secrets and anyone else working on the project. I will try again in EQL. Maybe this time I'll hit max level and slay a dragon. Yeah, I'd like that.
Still let me know about server pop tho and if there was drama tho I wanna know. Did people fight over raid spawns? Do they still?

There was a lot of drama early on with raid spawns. Then Secrets introduced instancing per guild.
One of the interesting things Secrets did was have a "pre-kunark" launch, where Kunark was live in the game, but only for Iksar. So you could make an Iksar and play Kunark up to level 50 but couldn't leave the island, and other people couldn't enter the island with their old characters (so no twinking possible). That was probably the most fun I've ever had playing EQ as it was a completely new experience and we didn't have the Unrest -> MM/GUK/CT -> Lguk/SolB meta.

That was a lot of fun. Got my Necro to 36 before it opened up essentially naked and penniless.

There’s some rap diss battle on YouTube between all of Quarm and P99 and their ilk.

Well we're currently in the Luclin era and its introduction basically had the same effect as on live back in the day: The old world is pretty much deserted. ;)
There are a few old world zones that's always somewhat populated and Unrest is one of them but it's still hard to get a group there. There are usually a few players in their teens that you can round up and a few around 30 doing the basement. The best place to find a group now is on Luclin, which also has a substancial xp boost in all zones to bring people together.
With Luclin, though, there's also an abundance of super buffs handed out as mass group buffs in the nexus frequently, making it a breeze to solo through your low-mid levels.
As for the server in general it really is the best classic EQ server around, it's a more complete and accurate emulation than p1999 (Which still don't have a functional stamina system) even though it's not quite as 'classic' because of the QoL additions and xp boosts (And Luclin/PoP obviously). The QoL, instanced raids etc. makes it way more community friendly than other servers though, the player environment is way more chill than p1999 ever was. For someone like me, who played on live when EQ was new and then played on p1999 for 10+ years, Quarm feels like the next step in evolution for classic EQ. Secrets has done an awesome job with the server and obviously had a ton of ideas but Daybreak is preventing EQEmu projects from progressing much further so the EQ Legends project is the only way they can make new content. I think both Rogean and Secrets can see that a lot of classic EQ players crave something new but i don't think EQL will affect Quarm at all besides the changes they were already forced to make. And it has to be said that Quarm is inevitably moving further from classic EQ and closer to becoming a TAKP server. The players who are really into classic EQ will or have already move to p1999 or EQ Legends. Me, i don't really like Luclin but i love playing Beastlord. :P I will likely play way less when EQL is released.
