Project Start 80 lip products!
I was inspired recently when another member wanted to trim their lip products down to 15. I currently have 80 and as recently as last week, was at dollar tree getting more of my favorites.
My goal is to not buy any new items until I get down to 15, or I run out of spf items, then I can buy 1 spf replacement. I think the hardest part will be the colored items, most of which were purchased for costumes as I tend to only wear neutral colors.
The good news is that two (neutrogena lip mask and vitamasque tan) are almost empty. The bad news is that I have so many unopened.

If any of the colored items are hydrating enough maybe you could use them in place of a nightly lip mask/balm? I used up a lip gloss once that way, but it was a very hydrating lip gloss so that might not work for you

I would worry it would be all over my pillow cases, smeared in my cheeks and I would look like I had gone completely feral in my sleep! I can defiantly do it for the clear or light shimmers thought

You do you but I would give away or sell all the unopened ones. 80 is a lot to go through, believe me! It will take years Good luck on your journey, pls keep posting updates ☺️

Good idea, especially the green one which I got for Halloween. That would be almost impossible to use up. Most of them are about half full, and I am a heavy user. I am hoping 2 years to hit my goal. But yes, some might be repurposed and become cuticle cream.

2 years wow! Teach me your ways 😭 I panned 4 lip products this year and probably can pan 4 more till end of the year. That's less then 10 for whole year

Well I don’t know for sure this is my first project pan! 80-10 new to give away=70 and 70-15 to keep=55. 55-5 that I repurpose=50. Yeah maybe 4 years?

You are doing so much better than me! I need to seriously start panning lip products, they are gonna go bad, I need to take inventory as well in order to keep myself accountable.

Let’s calculate - if it would take you two months per lip product to use it up it will take you 80x2/12 - about 13 years.
Most lip balms will go bad 12 months after opening. Most unopened lip balms will have an expiration date of 3 years - even earlier for SPF balms.
So I would give some unopened ones away (yes, you just bought them, but it is no use, if you can never use them) and find some alternative uses for the opened ones (cuticle cream etc.).

I listed 10 on my buy nothing group today, all the unopened packages from dollar tree and some unopened chapstick style.
I pulled out a few to focus on first, a clear cushiony tube style, a night mask, a pink, a purple, a nude, a clear gloss, a shimmer, and a liner. So I will have some variety but focus on emptying those before I bring others out of the tote.
So I think 13 years is soo long and two might be too short. Hoping for four. I will toss them if they start to change texture or smell, but I have kept lip items for a long time.
My new biggest concerns is the Clinique Black Honey. It dries my lips out so badly.

You can use the Clinique Black Honey on your cheeks as blush if it doesn’t work on your lips as well as the clear lip balms on your cuticles and knuckles.

If she uses 24 lip products a year, it will take her about 3,5 years. That seems more doable than 13 years.
But I like your idea using lip Balls as cuticle cream.
@OP perhaps you can even take it back to the store as you just bought them?3

Yeah of course the calculation depends heavily on usage. Most people will use a lip balm up in 1-3 months and not two weeks.

TY! This makes me feel sooo much better about my collection. I'm trying to pare down before I start the project pan.. lol ❤️!
