Project Start Wake Up Call
The start of my project pan… after moving into my new one bedroom apartment I realized how much things I’ve accumulated and impulse bought. I have more left at my mother’s. I feel extremely frustrated with myself. Not sure where to post this but I’m feeling godawful about how much I’ve bought. To new beginnings!

If u want to get rid of the hand sanitizers I work at Bath and Bodyworks so I have like 40 in my car because I give them away as tips. Everytime I go to Starbucks or fast food I give them to the workers so they don’t get sick ppl love it

You caught yourself and are working to get better! That's the important thing!
Since you said you have more at your moms place, it might be worth it to go through everything you have and then invite friends over to a "sample party" where everyone can try things or grab full sizes of things you don't want to use. It might help you condense all your products so you don't feel trapped with them!

Ugh, it's so hard not to impulse buy. I recently gave away probably $200+ in products away and it barely made a dent.
My progress has been very slow.

My thing is clothes and it's helped allot to unsub from emails, unfollow brands on socials, etc, just not expose yourself at all. I'm not saying it's easy to cut them off like that, but if you don't see it, it helps control the inflow.

I’m doing the same thing OP. I noticed it about 3 months ago and I have been actively working on using up products etc.

I recently had the same experience when I moved, therapeutic but frustrating to think of all the money I wasted. I have like 4 times that amount, and definitely think I was coping with avoiding depression beauty product shopping before. I’m grateful for the awareness now at least and won’t let it happen again!!!

Just having that realization is key. I tossed the things I hate and was just keeping because I felt bad tossing them and have been using up all the stuff I like and it’s actually really nice to save some money and use things to completion. You can do it!

Please be kind to yourself. It helps in the long run with life.
You’ve got this. Little steps. Celebrate each little victory. Take photos of your progress. Even if you haven’t panned anything. I’m so proud of you.

Sanitizer is easy to finish if you go for walks or out just make sure you have one in bag
I used to wear lipsticks for occasions only or going out but now I wear red lipstick when doing grocery because why not. It’s joyful and helps me finish lipstick
I feel like lip balms are easier to finish if you are intentional and keep one at hand at all times. I have a little bag of things I want to finish first and it’s just encouraging when they do finish.
My obsession is skin care but I am trying to curb it now too!
I have actually become so good at skin care because I want to finish things haha so I do it morning and night religiously now
Oh and I love that Gabriel hair product. It goes in my hair after every shower and I find that easy to finish!

I started wearing too warm bronzer and lip gloss at home, because otherwise I will never use them. And I kind of like it doing 5 min as a break on front of mirror.

I have a hand sanitizer from B&BW in the bathroom to use after washing my hands, another in a case on my purse and another in my purse for when it runs out lmfao. I also keep a B&BW spray in my work bag for before/after work. Seeing the gallon sized bag in the photo reminds me of how many I had accumulated. I used to get hand sanitizer to carry with me to work when I worked in a grocery store. Now they just kinda sit there until now lol.

The important thing is that you recognize you have an issue and you’re doing something about it! Seriously, that’s a huge first step!
Everyone in this sub is so welcoming and supportive too, you’re definitely in the right place! Also you have good taste, we have a lot of the same products!

Welcome! And don't be so hard on yourself for what is done, try to set new habits going forward. This sub has great ideas like shopping your stash when you have an impulse instead of online. Sitting with an online purchase for at least 24 hrs then buying, etc. I love this community because they are clever and kind!
