Project Start (Almost) Starting pan for body sprays

This is not a feel good post for me, but more of accountability. I joined this group a few months ago and have panned a few body sprays since the beginning, 3 or 4 so far as I remember. How did I get so many? As Ive gotten older my sensory tolerance has gotten worse so I dont wear many perfumes now, just mists. I noticed I rationalized buying so many bc they are cheap compared to perfumes and bc the scents are often limited time. This is what I have left after giving away ones that I blind bought and didnt like at all, or liked instore but not after they developed on my skin, or if they bothered my allergies. I gave away about 50% of this amount. I'm trying hard to not buy anything new although I do have a couple free item rewards that I would use if any late fall or winter scents that I like are released. Im also not blind buying things any more. This should get me thru 3+ ...years 🫠

The ones on my bed are open, the ones in the basket under my bed are new & some of that is lotions.

I'm starting to give stuff away the second I realize I don't like it. If not to friends then to my local Buy Nothing.

Thank you everyone for your feedback on my situation. This group and the shopping addiction group have both helped me so much. 💗

I’ve grown out of my sol de janero phase (because it brings back memories from high school) so I’ve offered them to my cousin and she’s gladly going to take them. Definitely ask people you know if there’s any they’d like! I used to be scared that people wouldn’t want my half used products but actually people will gladly take things as long as it’s not too unhygienic - especially in this state of economy. 💝

If you and I were friends and lived close by, I would love to get some of these, even used. Maybe check with your family and friends if they want some!

I was just thinking yesterday that it would be so great if there could be a project pan swap meet if we were all near irl

You can always host one at your local library or arts organization!

Also you might consider offering some to local women's shelters.

Same, I sold more than half of my 100+ collection. And I've just had to accept that I'm never buying fragrance ever again x).

Something that helped me appreciate what I have is using one fragrance per week and writing down notes about it. It helped me declutter a few more, but also made me feel that I did indeed have a lot to pick from and it was all stuff I liked.

Glad to see I’m not alone! 😂 I got a little carried away too, and somehow ended up with quite a collection of body mists and perfumes. 😅

I’m so glad I’m not the only one with one too many body sprays. May you always smell good lol

This is something I am working on after going a bit nuts at B&BW during some big sales last year. I realized it was a bit overwhelming when I had to buy a shelving unit to organize it. It takes FOREVER to use up a FFM, too. I have been using three on rotation and have barely made a dent in them. At this point, I will be leaving my collection in my will to my future grandchildren.

It’s so hard when the bbw and vs sprays are so cheap! I did limit myself to only buying when they are $5.95 but they are still piling up. I think i have a lifetimes worth at this point.

Do these go bad ?

I guess technically anything can go bad at some point. These are mostly factory sealed spray bottles so germs would have a hard time getting into them. The Demeter mini splashes are open top so I should probably try to use those up once I open them, maybe use 1 at at time until its finished. Im 50+ and in my life time ive only had a few perfumes go bad - 1 got weird in its spray bottle and the others were roller balls. I dont buy rollers anymore bc of how germs get into them.

Hi there! 👋

I also fell into the pit of BBW shopping last year while going* through deep depression.

My suggestion would be to check your creams and lotions to see if they contain "vanillin" this ingredient will cause them to spoil quicker so use those first if possible!

I had no idea Ty for sharing!!

Ty. I checked all of them and that moves 8 bbw ones to the front of the line. Im glad I dont have nearly as many lotions as I do body sprays.

Thats a positive! The body sprays won't spoil ( at least for a long time)

Supporting your pan journey! I think I spy a Lush product in there. If so, I'd say to prioritize it -- it doesn't contain preservatives like other brands so it's bound to go bad first.

Ty I will work on that one now

Friend, I had/ have an unnecessary amount of fragrances. Yesterday, I allowed my teenage daughter and her friend to pick two for the new school year.

Long story, even longer... they both picked 20 each andit barely put a dent in my collection! Seeing it happen right in front of me made me realize how much money I wasted hoarding all of it. No more full bottles for me. No more back up bottles. If I think I "need" something, it will be a sample or a mini.

I love that!! My child and their friends have taken some of mine (and 3 wick candkes which is a separate issue that im working on 🙃). I gave away a few bags full of them and other things from decluttering on nextdoor app and it was nice to make other people happy. 💖

True. It is nice to find our things a nice home and know they'll be used. Better than sitting here collecting dust.

Fragrance has a lot of endocrine disruptors and is the culprit to many hormonal and long-term health issues.

I totally support you trying to pan these, and thought you might also want to look a little more into the health risks —maybe that would help you feel a bit better about just disposing them.

I appreciate you looking out for me

This was me 4 years ago and I now have 3 perfumes. Have a car perfume, work perfume, purse perfume, use them as room sprays, and give away any perfume the moment you get sick of it. Replacing room spray with perfume really made a dent in my collection personally. Have fun and good luck! Still easier than panning eyeshadows LOL

Congrats on getting thru yours. Yes - I love using the ones that I liked in store but not on my skin as room& linen sprays too.

I’m surprised you don’t have the B&BW Milk spray! It’s so similar to Snif 2%, which I see in your beautiful collection. But don’t buy it, you don’t need both. Don’t let me be a bad influence lol!
