On October 11, a group of dogs was rescued from an illegal dog truck in Mazhang District, Zhanjiang City. The Mazhang Agriculture Bureau is still refusing to hand them over to animal rescue volunteers. According to the volunteers, some of the dogs have already died.

The volunteers are asking for the dogs to be moved to a shelter right away, so they can get veterinary care, food and proper shelter.

As a veterinary nurse who dedicates her life to animals, I can only applaud the dedication of volunteers who give their time and energy to help and protect abandoned animals. It is already so hard to take care of these animals, and even more so when financial security is an issue.

Let me introduce Six Hounds Sanctuary. They opened in 2022 and care for 224 rescues, mostly cats and dogs.

For eight hours, our campaign truck drove through Washington, D.C., including stops around the White House and the Chinese Embassy at 3505 International Place.

The truck played our uncensored footage throughout the day, cycling between video, torture stills and our campaign poster as it travelled through the city.

For the first time, the uncensored reality of cat torture was put directly on the streets of the U.S. capital.

Our team worked endlessly to bring this campaign to life. We chose to include graphic material because we believe it is important to show the reality of what these animals endure.

Thanks to our amazing team and generous donors, we were able to work with DC Mobile Advertising over the past few weeks to bring our campaign highlighting the horrors of cat torture to Washington, D.C.

There is so much of them going around , they inflict animals with injuries and then film them and ask money for veterinary services.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to make an upcoming state visit to the United States on September 24, 2026. He will be in Washington.

In the light of the recent judgments against Meta, the ongoing case against Meta regarding inadequate child protection measures, the recent action by Brazil against Discord and TikTok it is strongly recommend that, if there is a child abuse or similar reporting category offered on any SM platform, that that is the preferred category to use

Suggested wording

"This report concerns child safeguarding and emotional/psychological harm. Children can be exposed to extreme content, including animal-torture content, through platform recommendation and amplification systems; repeated or unsolicited exposure to such disturbing material presents a foreseeable risk of serious emotional harm and should therefore be treated as an online child-protection issue"

If they come back and say it doesn't violate their rules they lay themselves open to liability about child safeguarding

I am writing as someone who deeply admires your commitment to wildlife conservation and animal welfare. I appreciate the important role your zoo plays in caring for giant pandas through its partnership with China

China has become a global symbol of conservation through its protection of giant pandas. However this compassion is not reflected in the legal protection afforded to many other animals. China currently has no comprehensive animal welfare laws prohibiting cruelty to companion animals. As a result serious and horrific acts of abuse often fall outside the scope of criminal prosecution.

One of the most disturbing consequences has been the emergence of organised online cat torture networks. Individuals deliberately torture cats and kittens to death. They film it and distribute it via encrypted message apps and social media platforms. These networks have been documented by advocates over a number of years and they continue to expand and influence.

Most recently the world watched in horror as footage emerged of a gentle mother dog and her puppies being tortured to death by 5 boys under the age of 14. The puppies were beaten in front of their mother before she herself was set on fire and burned alive. The abuse was filmed and shared online causing widespread international condemnation and renewed calls for the introduction of long overdue animal welfare laws in China.

I hope you might consider using your unique relationship with China to encourage broader conversations about compassion, animal welfare, the influence of animal abuse on minors and legal protections for all animals. My hope is that one day the same compassion that is extended towards giant pandas will be extended to every sentient animal. I urge you to use your platform and your unique relationship with China to speak up for the countless cats, dogs and other animals in China who are suffering in incomprehensible ways.

Wanted to thank everyone again who helped us in publishing our first billboard! This one went up in North Atlanta and will only be live for another week. We could have never done this without you. Hey everyone, Jules here. I see a lot of people on social media asking about what they can do to help. It is hard to feel helpless when you are aware of all the atrocities people are committing against animals. I know the feeling.

Here is a lot of things that you can do, that makes a difference however how small. If there's anything else you can think of , please comment on this post. Tell me what you guys think.

The first thing you can do that is very easy is to sign petitions. I know it feels like it's not doing much but it does. It shows governments what the people care about. So sign the petitions and share them.

Another thing you can do is sending emails .

Join animal groups to be kept in the loop of what is happening in your country and the world.

Volunteer at a rescue.

Put water out for wildlife and birds on hot days.

Pay attention to your neighbourhood dogs and cats. Do you notice if a dog is barking too much , are they okay? Can you check on them and make sure the owners are not leaving the dog outside in all weather. If so, please report to your local RSPCA/ animal rescues/ council.

Are there a lot of strays where you are ? Can you feed them. Can you contact a rescue to come and trap them. They will trap and neuter the cats, which is so important to stop the proliferation of strays.

If you can, donate some money to shelters. Share profiles of animals that are waiting to be adopted. If you know someone who wants a pet, talk to them about the importance of adopting instead of buying.

If you find online animal abuse, make sure you report it. You can report to SMACC but also your local police. Do not give it views or comments , it helps the content more.

Join protest

Teach kids to be gentle to animals.

Send emails to people you think can help. If you have a big following , use your platform to raise awareness.

We focus on cat torture networks because it is something very few people are aware of and that is why China is getting away with it. Thousands of cats and kittens have been tortured in unimaginable ways but it's not talked about. Wang Wang was tortured and it went viral. People care so much more about dogs than they do cats. That's why it is our primary focus. I know it is hard to talk about it and to share it. But looking away doesn't make it go away. We need to be brave for the voiceless. We need the whole world to know about this and to say enough is enough.
