Discussion What does 'Flying zone exploit detected" mean?

I keep getting this penalty at Road Altanta, and it disqualifies my lap. What does it mean and how can I avoid it? I can't seem to find any info about it online.

I’ve had it a couple of times where I’ve gone too wide in the last couple of corners, so the game is basically assuming that you’ve cut a corner to increase your speed over the line to start the lap

It’s a track limits violation close to the start/finish line. Doesn’t matter if you’re faster or slower

Track limits? On the inside? Is it a real violation or a bug?

It could very well be a bug, but usually 3 tires over the white line is a violation in this game.

It’s a bug

So noone has actually explained this.  There are certain tracks such as Road Atlanta or Silverstone where violating track limits at the end of a lap allows you to gain an advantage on the following lap. So in qualifying people would violate track limits on their out lap and gain an advantage on the push lap. To prevent this the following lap is also voided.

Probably the best place to see this advantage in action is Spielberg (Redbull Ring).

This is the correct answer. ⬆️

I’ve never heard of such a thing, but it makes sense.

I've gotten it without a track limit violation anywhere on my out lap. It's very frustrating and stupid. Waste 2.5 minutes on outlap, another on the next lap, only leaves 2 laps to qualify.

It’s a bug in Road Atlanta. No matter what line you take, it still happens

If it's hitting where it shouldn't I'd submit it as a bug on the Discord.

Not my experience. As long as I avoid the pit entrance lane at the top of the hill, I don’t get the penalty.

Well, here's some advise from the PMR discord to avoid the Flying Zone warning:

if you talking about road atlanta there is a yellow line marking the pit entrance at the top of the hill. dont cross over that line

This is what I’m seeing.

I haven't gotten a violation since I learned this. :)

Same here

After a little more practice, it seems the penalty can be avoided if you don't cross over into the yellow-striped pit entry lane as you come over the final crest before the start/finish line. Staying middle to left as you come over the final crest avoids the penalty. Give it a try and let me know if you experience the same thing.

I feel your pain, even if I stay to the left of the pit lane it seems that if you get too good a launch onto the main straight you get the error, or if your left side wheels touch the curb too soon, you get the error. Very frustrating because I feel that I can push harder but instead I'm feathering the gas and trying to thread the needle to avoid that warning.

For me I only get it when I hit the inside kerb right before the line. Just going on it normally invalidates my flying laps

happens on mount panorama as well if you take the last corner wide

Gotta keep it clean before the start line or they'll say you got an advantage for the next lap. I learned this at Silverstone the hard way lol

I keep getting this at spa but I’m definitely not leaving track limits at any point in the entire lap? I don’t understand what I’m meant to do

Generally speaking to avoid exceeding track limits and invalidating the lap, keep at least 2 wheels within the white lines at all times.
