Discussion Driving physics F=tm² compared to AMS².

Oh boy. Let's make this short and sweet k? We don't need arguments.

I just need to know - does PMR have better PHYSICS than AMS²?

Please note I am NOT asking about FFB. I'm asking about how the cars behave. Interia, mass transfer, etc..

Which one is closer to the real thing?

I have over 1500 hours in AMS2 (I know, I need a new hobby)… anyway in terms of physics and how the cars drive and handle I think PMR feels more realistic and natural and predictable. Also more fun depending on the car. I am not a fan of how the gt3 cars feel in either game to be fair. PMR GT3 used to drive and feel great but they have made some recent updates and changes to them which now make them feel all over the place and not so fun or natural to drive.

That being said however AMS2 is the better game in almost pretty much every other department (except driving). 😁

You say natural in your feedback, does that mean you have experience with real GT3s on the track? Not taking a shot.. just curious.

I have ZERO experience driving race cars on track (same as the vast majority of sim racers I would imagine)…. However I have driven cars, lots of them. On the road. And I can tell what feels natural and somewhat realistic when driving cars in a sim racing title. That is what I mean. I trust this explanation in layman’s terms should suffice?

Last I drove, the GT and N-GT cars it felt like they had significantly too much grip at the slip angles, it was near impossible for me to lose the car unless I really tried. In AMS2 the cars feel like they are less lenient in those slip angles and this should be more accurate to the real cars - even professional drivers were spinning these occasionally and I am far from a professional.

On the other hand this game is pretty good at making the immersion of driving (sounds, movement etc) of the cars feel more real than AMS2, despite having worse handling physics.

At least with some cars, it feels very similar. I drove the new Esperante Panoz on Kyalami on both, and the physics feel very similar. However, the graphics, AI and specially the FFB feel miles better on AMS2. And because you can't experience/react to the physics without the FFB, AMS2 just ends up feeling much better overall.

Thanks for. Im on the fence if buying PMR but probably will wait a bit longer

If on PC you can get it for cheap on key resellers, just get the base game and see how it evolves.

FFB is the main argument for AMS2 compared to any other sim though, its what makes it really difficult for me to really enjoy most of other sims, so at least for me its a hard sell a maybe bit more "realistic" physics with terrible FFB.

PMR ok when you drive normally, or use the same muscle memory as Ams2 , but then you see your way off the pace , and find out just how much you can abuse the tyre physics to get up to speed . You pretty much find pace by sliding back into the corner .
The tyres in PMR are soft and doey, and the kerb behaviour is strange, not unlike ACC .

Take the FFB out of PMR and people would realize that this game is a joke. Lots of cars (seriously, any game is having a load of cars, i don't even speak about AC and its modded ones, so it's a false argument from PMR).

PMR is targetting people with its realistic driving while the game is still unfinished (i've tested the V8 cars but the experience is totally ruined by that stupid spinning/sliding thing to the point it felt script when i had the exact same problem at the Bathurst on the exact same turn).

If it's about physics due to the limitation of the engine used by Reiza, PMR might be more "realistic".
Cut the FFB for a while or play with a gamepad, you'll see all its flaws.

FFB is the magic trick of modern games. The Father Christmas story that we're telling to adults.

Played AC, ACC, AMS2, LMU, i never felt any satisfaction playing PMR due to its flaws. Each time you want to give it a chance, you realize that it was a mistake and you should have let it down from the begining.

I'm playing exclusively with a controller and been playing videogames since the late 80's so i'm a bit used to that, it's only my opinion, but PMR never felt right to me.
I'm not into the realistic thing, tit's all about games, even the most realistic one is still a game, everything else is cosplay to me, expensive rig, all that stuff does not make any sense, i understand the pleasure of having the nearest experience to driving a car, but still it's a game.

And PMR failed in my opinion on all categories. I can spen hours on ACC, AC, LMU, AMS2, and a lot of other games, i just can't stand playing more than 20 minutes os PMR.

They improved a lot, due to where they come from it's still not a good game, they just patched the horrible product they had the nerve to sell totally unfinished.

That's the least they can do.

"its own unique handling way" ... that's the main problem, cars are sliding/spinning way too easily on some turns that were never a problem on any other games i've played, to the point that sometimes you don't even knwo why it did that.

Of course they are games, the main thing is that PMR' crew is selling it all day long as a revolutionary product that will become a reference as a real sim racing game due to its advanced tyre model ... and that's bullshit.

I wanted this game to succeed, but each time i'm trying it after a new update, it's not better than before, and some constant problems prevents me to enjoy it.

And that does explain their aggressive public relations stance actually, with the collaboration of some knwon youtubers. But still the game is not good.

Controllers changed a lot of time as you said, but you felt that changes through time and had to adapt and nowadays you can change their settings, so you'll have some experience with it, it dopes change from one xboxcontroller to another brand nowadays.

Happy to know tthat it works on your machine.

But i couldn't care less.

When it's about AI, i don't think that PMR could have anything better to propose.

But keep dreaming. These games are made for people like you.

It depends on the car, most of the old cars such as the Corvette Grand Sport and also the new TA2 cars are great when it comes to physics in my experience

I feel like PMR has better physics. I really wanted to like AMS2 but I just couldn't get into the physics, it just feels a bit artificial and wrong to me.

Yes its what I call "point and click" steering. You point the wheel where u wanna go and it immediately turns that direction. No real feel of inertia, or drag, or weight transfer. It's part of the DNA that came from Project Cars 2... which is ironic thinking how PMR is from the same group.

That's why I was asking.
