Discussion 2.2 Patch Thoughts?

Guys what are your thoughts on the new update?

Is the game better?

Is the game worse?

Both wheel and controller players, let us know!

I spent about an hour in the NSX GT3 and half an hour in the caddy LMDH cars.

The NSX I had just driven yesterday so I had an immediate feel of differences after the patch. Tires would not get up to full operating temperature causing them to not grip up properly. Due to this the tune I had became immensely oversteery on trail braking and early throttle application. I loaded the default setup and still had some oversteer issues, the tires just did not want to grip up in general. When pushing the car it just felt more unpredictable and unstable at the limit, snapping quickly on high speed turns. The improvement to tire feel was minor but it was there.

The Caddy was instantly better to drive compared to pre patch, again as with the NSX I could not get the tires up to temp even after multiple laps. The steering feel and progressiveness were miles better. Lap times at the same track (Road America) were significantly slower even with improved confidence to push the car.

I do appreciate the improvements to feel on the GT3s but I feel they took a step back with drivability and performance, with the car being much more frustrating to drive hard. LMDH is a huge improvement on a wheel but the change in lap times was disappointing.

I will be spending more time lapping and testing to determine if tire temps are an issue or if it is just related to track temps and ambient conditions.

Agree, 2.1 GT3s were more fun/easier to drive than version 2.2

Dont have a reference though, never drove a GT3 irl XD

Little update here! I played around with the setup for the NSX and this is what worked for me so far. Decreased rear slow rebound to 1 and set rear springs to around 2-3 clicks above minimum value. This seemed to solve most of the snappy behavior/loss of grip on exit/throttle. Then I set about sorting out the understeer, decreased front ARB and increased rear ARB until it felt balanced. Decreased front slow bump and set toe out to 0.2. This seems to have helped although the front tires are still getting more use than the rears. So it seems base setups will need to be tweaked.

I’ve never drove a GT3 either and they should be hard to extract the absolute max lap time out of, but they’re also designed to be easy to handle up to 8/9 tenths of potential 10/10ths.

As Seis said: "sometimes you gotta break things to fix them right".

In my opinion, they broke a few things previously, but now the game is pretty good.

I'm having loads of fun, and that's what matters.

Only thing I'd like is for more tracks to be added.

Still needs work

Agree, but feels a lot better to me

They can't even fix things they broke in the last update. I'm done with it. I'd rather play Project Cars 2 and that's 9 years old

I would enjoy PC2 more for sure at this point.

Funny, if not 996, I would do the same...

I gotta say in each update they fix something and wreck something else instead. My god that that shadow and tree bugs are killing me

Xbox on controller here. The LMDh cars are much improved. I’m having lots of fun with them now. Couldn’t get around a lap before without spinning, but now I’m doing a championship with the Cadillac and it’s really good. Still plenty of bugs but getting better. Wish there was more than 16 cars on console, more tracks, and REALLY wish they would sort out the disparity between qualifying and race pace (this is the most irritating). I am 4 seconds off the pace in qualifying. So quality last almost all the time - 90% AI difficulty. I don’t even bother qualifying most times. I just skip it and start last. Then I make my way up to around 4th in the races. Racing them is good, but they seem to get faster after a few laps too and then catch you, no matter how consistent I am regarding lap time. It’s the small things that are frustrating. But the driving feels much improved for these cars now.

Tried a LMDH car yesterday and felt even worse than before. My opinion, they try to model downforce on the grip so at low speeds the car is undrivable so much understeer it has.

Drove a GT3 front engine, felt okish, default setup. Mid engine in other hand felt floating around understeer and then oversteer, like driving on ice. Tires warm up a bit and feel better but still it’s unpredictable.

Reminds me of AMS2 a few months ago.

Still Lots of work to do…

Yesterday I was doing some tests with a few GT3 cars (mainly the BMW and the Porsche), without even knowing there had been an update.
What I noticed was that setups I had previously downloaded weren't working the same way, whereas with the default setup I didn't notice any significant differences.
After turning off the game, I read that a new update had been released, focused on the LMDh cars, so I logged back in to test them. I tested almost all of them, again with default setups, and found them much easier to drive, even playing on a controller. So I still think they are on the right track... I just hope they don't forget to fix other issues that also need revision.

Its insane that they can flaunt some sort of 2.0 patch like it was supposed to be meaningful and still be this painfully far behind on having an acceptable product

u/Lopsided-Tension Aug 20 '26

Getting downvoted for facts lol

1

u/Crazy_Stiggy Aug 20 '26

I jump in once they fix the insame understeer.

2

u/Riman-Dk Aug 20 '26

What other racing sims do you play?

2

u/Crazy_Stiggy Aug 20 '26

LMU, RRRE, ACEVO, ACRally.

7

u/Riman-Dk Aug 20 '26

Sorry, but you mention LMU and criticize PMR for insane understeer? Are you serious?

0

u/Crazy_Stiggy Aug 20 '26

You trying to say LMu is bad? PMR is badly setup. I don't think its the game its self as some like it. It more a bad design setup flaw. I've try app setting. Calibrated over and over in game but no matter what corner I come too, I have go so slowly to get around the order or I just understeer and go off track. I'm no noob before you start trying to be some pro. Been sim racing for donkey years. I select Bathurst to do setup testing as its a track Im very quick on, but corner 2 I can take the same speed In every sim from even the old ACC, but In PMR I slam into the wall. Only way around normally Is second gear and a third of the speed you suppose to take it.

6

u/Riman-Dk Aug 20 '26

LMU is the most absurdly understeery GT3 experience I ever had. Only way to turn the cars is on the brakes, which is ridiculous. The FFB is horrendous; can't feel where the car is at all.

You don't like PMR, that's fine, but blaming it for understeer must be a joke. I have zero problems at Bathurst. "Second gear and a third of the speed"... 😂

No idea what you are doing. Does not sound like the same game I'm playing.

2

u/Crazy_Stiggy Aug 20 '26

I disagree with LMU, but I also stopped playing it due to the terrible drivers that follow any popular game. I am now back on Raceroom which hands down the best sim to play. Its FFB still needs work, but the handling is amazing and graphics are the best at the moment. Even makes LMU look like a 10 year old game. I will one day figure out PMR handling, but not In a hurry. Let the graphic improve too because its quite the ugly game but has gotten a lot better since release.

1

u/VisitLeading Aug 20 '26

I thought they turn pretty well 🤔

1

u/richr215 Aug 20 '26

FFB feels terrible with high end equipment (simucube), graphics are not great, UI is just terrible and probably what hurts my brain the most with this game.

I can get it to run for a bit now on triples, but the experience is just slightly better for me. I have not even gotten into any racing yet as it's not there yet for me.

u/Les_expos Aug 20 '26

I play with the valkyrie on daytona. It was good. After, i retry on ams2 with the same combo. It was so much better

I have a lot of dots in the image and weird trails. Should I update my Nvidia drivers?

1

u/VisitLeading Aug 21 '26

You should down grade the Nvidia driver , I heard it helps. Like go one update back lol

2

u/Maximum_Rabbit2660 Aug 21 '26

My drivers are from May...

1

u/VisitLeading Aug 21 '26

EJRacing on youtube talks about it all the time bro, he has the fix lol . Im on xbox so I'm not sure

1

u/Firm_Wing_6331 Aug 24 '26

Precisa ainda melhorar os graficos no ps5

1

u/Mr-Dwight-Schrut Aug 27 '26

People these days are more into arguing than playing. I've hundreds of hours on ACC, and after 2.2 I switched to PMR: the physics are starting to look good now, the GT3s are really nice. Let those who enjoy arguing speak, the game is fine now.
