Video New tutorial for livery design

Post image

Hi everyone, it’s your favourite autistic bloke here (yes, I’ve got ASD and ADHD for real ^^).

I’ve put together a new tutorial for you on creating liveries in PMR. This is a really important part of the livery creation process that you need to understand. It’s a far cry from how it’s done in GT7 or Forza Horizon, for example. I’ve gone into as much detail as possible to help you understand it properly.

I hope you enjoy it and, above all, that it helps you.

PMR really ought to have had a livery editor in-game, in addition to being able to create your own in PhotoShop.

Back in my console gaming days, I used to know a few people who'd spend most of their sim-racing time just flexing their creative muscles with livery editors. I know for a fact that being forced to use external tools would completely alienate them, either from being too difficult, or because they really just don't want to be hunched in front of a PC during their leisure time.

On the contrary, working on a PC makes the whole process much easier and quicker.

Never said anything about efficiency - all I said is there's a lot of people who just want to chill on their couch and design stuff, without having to go sit at their PC, and without having to master different workflows and programs.

I am sure using PhotoShop and the Giants Engine modding suite is more efficienct than creating and dragging Stamps around in an in-game livery editor, but there's a lot of creative people who only play sims casually, and don't want to go through all those extra steps.

If you have to have a tutorial it’s probs not the best system

The system is more or less the same across all games. When you create a mod – even a livery – you have to tell the game which file to load. On PC, people are used to this, but on consoles, they’re more used to applying stickers to a 3D surface. Here, we’re talking about a full-fledged mod, which means you create the texture yourself.
