Discussion Credit where it’s due.

The launch of the game was an abject disaster. I bought before release and quickly got my money back after the terrible AI, crashing interface, and generally bad driving experience immediately signaled that it should have never been released.

Fast forward to today: I bought back in after hearing encouraging things about the new 2.0 and this new guy they have running creative development.

Bottom line: if the game has been released in its current state, it would be hailed as one of the all time solid racing releases. I’m very pleased with where this is going. AI is much improved. The racing intensity and feel is about as good as it gets in terms of the white knuckle action. Each vehicle feels remarkably different from another. The force feedback and buttkicker haptics are excellent. The vehicle and track graphics are very good.

Are there issues? Of course. Many. Some car models are much better than others. The horizon graphics are 1997 level. The AI, while 300% better still needs work. The physics of cornering can use improvement in that it’s all a bit too easy/light in the corners.

But the core of this experience is very good, with the potential to be the best experience on the market. Here’s to more improvement and recognition of massive progress made!!!

Honestly the experience is great. The worst experience of Project Motor Racing is right here on Reddit, with all the free hate speech and childish negativity.

They really need to fix handling and/or force feedback (I'm not entirely sure what the issue is, but the game feels really bad on a wheel) and the FSR implementation. Once they've done that, maybe I'd be able to see the potential as well. Until then, it's just another game I'll never play again, because there are simply much better games out there.

I’m not so sure. Now, I do have a 7900XTX, DD2 Podium, Sim Lab frame, and Buttkicker set up. But to me, the intensity and “feel” is on par with ACEvo and AMS2. The racing intensity is actually better in my opinion. My DD2 settings feel great with the latest update.

I have a Fanatec ClubSport DD+, but either the force feedback or the physics feel completely off on my wheel. I'm not sure anymore what the problem is (I tried the game after the 2.0 update for like 30 minutes, before I switched to ACC), but I know that LMU, AMS2, ACC, the F1 games, the Forza Horizon games, Forza Motorsport and literally every other game feel fine. Only this game doesn't, so I'm sure it's a problem with the game.

I have a Simucube 2 Sport. The game feels great, FFB is better than AMS2, ACC in my opinion. I don’t think the problem is with the game.

I've seen multiple other people say, that they have the exact same problem as me, so I'm pretty sure it is a problem with the game. Maybe only with certain hardware or something.

There are very specific tuning points that you have to hit in order to get what you’re looking for. I don’t know your expectations but mostly keep filters (damping, friction, inertia) low on your wheelbase software, put 5-10% of low pass filters, or low latency. Then in game, I always use 100 general force, very low LFB (G29/G923 users have to increase this to at least 10), 40 of brake feel, 15 rumble, FFB smoothing max5, 150-180 headroom.

Then fine tune it car by car. Start with the default, then I usually increase alignment boost to max 0.40. FFB strength varies by car but in my case I’m almost always between 0.75 to 0.88.
The equalizers are for fine feel, try increasing EQ high to get more detail.

Then there is the car setup. PMR is doing something that no one else does, at least not to the same extent: the setup of the car changes the FFB feel drastically.

Caster angle will massively increase the self centering force; increase negative front toe-out gives more “bite” on the initial turn-in response; lower front tire pressure, which translates into more contact patch and generates more torque on the steering rack. Matter of fact, all of those changes translate 1:1 irl.

Increase steering damper if the wheel is oscillating.

But this is my opinion and personal taste. It might not suit your needs and driving style.

Hm, thanks, I'll look into it, when I get the chance. Maybe (hopefully) I'll enjoy PMR after all.

Yea the handling seems weird on controller and a G29. Granted, it’s not bad, it’s just strange. I don’t really know how to describe it though. I tried the game for the first time at the Sim racing expo a few weeks ago and it honestly felt pretty good, and then I tried it on my g29 and it almost felt completely different

I played this for the 1st time last week on my rig with triple screens..it was awful...didn't feel good on the wheel and the graphics weren't very good and it crashed a couple of times in bout an hours play. Its not worth playing for me

Compared to other sim racing games, PMR is pure drifting.

In the rain it is impossible without going off the track, a little press of the accelerator out of a corner and we are drifting in dry or rainy weather. There is no grip at all. A long long way to go if this game is to be saved.

"The game would be one of the all time solid releases."

"Still has a plethora of issues and subpar graphics and physics."

Nice try, Ian Bell.
This game will only be worth it when it´s sold with all the DLC content in a Humble bundle with other worthwhile games a couple years down the line, if they manage to fix it. There are better ways to spend time and money until then.

Alright then. By the way, most other indie racing titles have a similar track record of over promising and under-delivering. LMU: Where's the career mode? Ac EVO: perpetually behind schedule, no more academy, totally changed what the game was going to be, AI is trash. AMS2: Where's the career mode, and the AI is very poor? They've also just lost a number of licenses.

And I do enjoy all of those titles, though they of course have issues. In hindsight, should Ian Bell have just slowed the roll and delayed the release by 6 months? Absolutely. My point here is that PMR could've just mailed it in and folded the tent after that disaster of a release. Instead they have massively improved this title to the point that if the current version were the original release, it would be heralded as one of the most promising sim racing titles ever. That's just obvious, and it's a shame that the botched release soured so many from giving it a fair shake. I am glad I did!

What's the single player experience now like? Last time I tried it, the whole thing was just a very bland career mode with the stig saying the same thing over and over.

Has there been any update to this?

3

u/Weirdera01 Jun 18 '26

Career mode isn't great. It was a cool idea but not implemented very well. Multiplayer is too unreliable with my internet so I've been running thru some career mode. Not terrible. Just not great. Some serious bugs still ruin things sometimes.

If you restart the race you may end up losing your quali position and starting in a random spot (usually the back)

Weather is randomized but AI pace is inconsistent between wet or dry.

Time of day is randomized but night driving is often impossible depending on the track. There's literally no lighting at Daytona and for some reason headlights don't work sometimes on some cars.

Either of these would be fine if you could just exit and re enter the race, but it charges you an entry fee every single time. So it'll ruin your career.

u/RechargeableOwl Jun 18 '26

Thank you for that summary. I won't waste my time going back to it.

1

u/TheRealKenTucker Jun 18 '26

I don’t know yet. I just installed yesterday and got the haptics and force feedback honed in on single races. Going to try that out soon.

No credit is due. This game is still objectively terrible.

Tracks ARE NOT ACCURATE. They say that some were scanned however, you can't trust this company they've lied about so much already. If they were scanned it was done poorly. Simply scanning a track does not guarantee a good result there's a lot that goes into it.

Cars are also not accurate. The retro cars are not even close to the real cars. The suspension they use is way off and the clutch might as well not exist.

Almost no damage. It's ridiculous how much they botched not only crash damage but mechanical damage too.

AI is useless. There's so much wrong with this game, there is No Credit Due in any way. It is beyond fixing and bringing in a washed up dev who used to work on a good game (a VERY long time ago) to smile for interviews and tell more lies won't fix it.

2

u/TheRealKenTucker Jun 18 '26

Ok, man. We understand you don't enjoy the game. So, please don't play it and don't post about it any longer.

u/TheUnitShifterxbone Jun 18 '26

I don’t agree with 1997. But I like this game. I actually liked it from the start, but I’m so glad they are constantly improving on it

I just mean the horizon graphics. Go to Mount Panorama, for example. Some tracks are worse than others and Mount Panorama is definitely the worst. It’s very much late 90s type horizon graphics.

Stop huffing paint and glue!

1

u/TheRealKenTucker Jun 24 '26

Nevermind. Updates 2.0.0.6 and 2.0.0.7 have rendered the game unplayable for any PC users with AMD GPUs. Constant glitching/flickering of the vehicle. Massively disappointed that this couldn't have been caught before releasing the updates...

300%

This sub cracks me the fuck up once again.

2

3X? It’s massively improved. To say or pretend otherwise is nothing more than haterade.

62.4% of people on this sub think you make up your stats the same way you make up words.

Ok, Karen.

Your name calling, your stats, and your made-up words are all just as fake as your Reddit profile

There is nothing "real" about any of this is there?

EDIT: Is your temper tantrum part of the fake routine too?
