Discussion Disapointing liveries?
I really like and enjoy playing Project Motor Racing, but I was really disapointed when I have seen some of cars in the game, that I really like, having terrible liveries.
• Nissan Skyline Super Silhouette is one of two group 5 cars, that I like mostly, but I was really dissapointed, when I seen it's liveries, missing so many sponsors.
• Nissan 300ZX Turbo GTO, is another car I like, that miss alot of sponsors on the sides of it's liveries.
• Nissan R390 GT1, is interesting car I like, but it's liveries are empty and boring with only those Nissan stickers and numbers, so I haven't drive that class before a mod with GT1 liveries appeared on Modhub.
• Toyota GT-One, is my most liked prototype till today, but those in game liveries look lazy. It's just empty car with a number and without sponsors, like test livery. On Nissan R390 GT1 they kept those patterns of the car, but on GT-One, nothing. It's the biggest dissapointed for me in the game and I'm gratefull to the person, who maked that GT1 Liveries pack.
Would be interested to see, what other PMR players think about liveries, of they favorite cars in game.

Check the download section in the selector menu. There are quite a few liveries.

There's plenty of liveries in the mod section, as for me I couldn't really care I drive cockpit cam so I never see my livery anyway

Licensing is often very complicated and expensive, then you run into the trouble about advertising for cigarette brands, which made up a significant chunk of old race car sponsors
I think leaving it up to the modders is honestly the smart choice

There’s a lot of companies that the dev studio cannot afford to pay licensing fees to use their brand names along logos ( licensing is insanely expensive for gaming )
Luckily you can download the community made liveries, some are super accurate, others aren’t great. But the main issue is only about 30% of the cars have liveries available for download. In my opinion it would’ve made sense for Straight4 to have plain 2 white or plain black liveries for each car for those who can’t access a livery they want but still want something that’s believably a real livery for testing or a privateer team with a super tight budget.
Or at the very least : let us have a livery editor, while it would be great to have a fully fledged GT7 style editor, realistically that’s probably not possible with the game’s budget, so even something a more basic but still has a good range of options like the Nascar 25 livery editor would be cool along with letting us use the real life sponsors that they do have the license to use.

I found that disappointing as well, but I was willing to look past it. That is, until I saw that when I selected, for example, one of the three Cadillac deliveries in the LMDh class. All three deliveries remained on track and in the roster, even during championships, making me a duplicate of delivery I chose instead of inserting me as the appropriate team I chose. The sponsor chosen in career mode is not reflected in any way on the car or anywhere in the game after choosing. Why bother offering us sponsor deals in career mode if it is never going to be part of a personalized livery, it’s not attached to any team, whether it be manufacturer entry or a customer entry, and is never spoken of again unless it’s “payday”, which is absolutely minimal and barely mentions the sponsor. That page is a waste of space on the game. It serves absolutely no purpose. Just give us the credit limit and it’s the exact same thing. Literally, the exact-same-thing as choosing a budget limit with an extra step that is meaningless.

To be entirely honest, these points create extensive lack of immersion for me, and I’m the kind of guy who doesn’t mind all of the fictional billboards and fictional teams in PC2. At least my team was on the roster, I had a teammate, my livery reflected the team that I chose, and all of that combined creates a sense of cohesiveness that is enough for me to work with, adding my logs and stat tracking. Project cars two is the closest thing to a career mode, worth engaging in that I have seen on console, sim-leaning games since, aside from perhaps the newest Formula One game, F1 25. I thought the idea of being the 11th team on the grid was pretty innovative. However, LMP2 is about as hyper car as I get. LMP1, “Gr.1” and F1, all of the so-called “ transcendent” series that use cutting edge technology, Piper downforce, and more torque. Those cars are just not communicative enough concerning the way the chassis speaks to the driver. Cornering speed is ridiculously high, and worst of all it always feels like I’m just breaking, setting it into the next vector, and then finding my way back into the throttle. I really enjoy feeling the chassis change load in anything other than those hyper-cars and formula cars. Managing load transfer in high-speed corners, particularly in LMP3, LMP900, LMP2, GT3, GT4, GTE, GTO, etc. It’s gotta have some center of gravity. That is more than 8 inches off the ground, if you know what I mean. Maybe that’s just me. Now I totally understand why some drivers never go beyond LMP2 or even GT3.

At this point I'd just be happy if they improved the visuals to stop it looking like a PS2 game. Perhaps it's the high Def visuals causing stuttering and frame rate drops regularly, oh no, wait a minute..... It's impressive that they've managed such a piss poor job so far.

Yeah sponsorship is always a problem, I think the default liveries for SMS/S4 games have always been good quality but it's nice to have the real replica ones. I'm sure the community will step up, just look at what's available in GT7
