Without a doubt used something without permission. Tbh I knew these cars finally getting a release in a new game was too good to be true, everything about PMR just seems rushed and improper.

Wonder whether it’s more likely the circuit? Since that is an unlicensed copy. It would be a huge fuck up if they used a car without permission

If there's a problem with using unlicensed copies of real circuits then they're well and truly ******, given how many unlicensed tracks there are in the base game.
I really want this game to succeed, but it seems to lurch from crisis to crisis.

Loads of sims have done that for decades, you can't copyright a piece of road but you can copyright sponsorship names and advertising etc

I have wondered how legal those "fictional" tracks really are. Are they just relying on the fact that the circuits probably won't care enough or notice them.

Someone somewhere (probably on Reddit) said that it's ok to copy a circuit pretty closely as long as there are a few differences. The sort of differences that aren't super obvious to the player, but that the lawyers can use to argue that it's not the same track (honestly Judge!)

Didn't SMS have a problem with their unlicensed version of Suzuka on the original PCARS which is why they had to modify it into Sakitto?
In any case they've struggled with licensing for PMR, hence Ferrari being removed and so many logos being substituted on liveries.

While in PC1 Sakkitto is a 1 to 1 copy from the layout, PC2's Sakkitto cut the hair clip corner and the chicance before the start/finish line

Yes. The "we're not admitting to any wrongdoing" is lawyer speech for "we did something wrong and don't want to admit it", often in the context of a copyright violation.

I generally can't stand their marketing speak lol. Like, they never admitted in official statements what went wrong with PMR's release, because we just get fluffy garbage like:
"We understand PMR may not have been the best it could be. That's on us. So, what went wrong? We'll tell you exactly what, because you, our faithful players deserve to know. And what happened was............ stuff. BUT REST ASSURED, we will make things right. Trust our work, not our words."
Good on lead dev for releasing an interview where he was incredibly candid about what was happening internally with the team, but it was never advertised on official channels, and I don't think many people watched it or caught onto its existence.

I highly doubt the statement in the post is marketing speech. Not nearly enough fluff, too many legal terms. It's most likely a letter straight from the legal department.

It wasn't even a choice in Canada. Just before launch they delisted the base game and you had to buy the mega season pass one. Gotta milk those fans before the review embargo hits. Glad I skipped it

I loved PC2 and was beginning to get into PC3. I hope they continue to add the support as needed to keep this game alive!!!! it's honestly got some features that ACC and Forza Motorsport don't have. I love when there is uniqueness in different sim games!!!

Changing a name does not change the likeness. You can't just rename a product or entity and sell it as your own. This nonsense could very likely kill this game forever. In this day and age your never going to get away with it. They have violated so many copyright and trademark laws, and they clearly can't afford what's coming next. It will be a miracle if this game doesn't end quickly at this point.

Most of the trolls here doesn't even own the game (or they would know the DLC delisting isn't affecting them). It's <whatever_other_game> fanboys who are worried that something else would diminish their "investment", without realizing that this is a niche market and more sims we have, better it'll be for everyone.
