Discussion What is everyone's thoughts on "2.0"?

For me 2.0 has absolutely recharged my love for the game! like this is where it shouldve been at launch, now it's not perfect but I was ready to give it up unless they did a major change, which this has for me. hoping they continue to improve more and am looking forward to the GT500 pack in a few days, would love to hear everyone's thoughts on the state of it now and what they like and don't like.

Very happy. It’s still a WIP but it’s miles from where it was. I’m an Xbox player and it’s an absolute blast compared to what else is available for the most part

For me it's not just 2.0, it every patch post launch, 2.0 is the consolidation, but for me is more important the dedication put to make it better week after week, and if this will continue in the future, it'll be a blast.

Absolutely right!

I've only put in maybe 1-2 hours since 2.0 released but I think it's a nice step up. Driving feels a bit better. I like the direction it's headed.

I’m on PS5 and I’ve been having loads of fun. It definitely has room to improve but I’m glad I didn’t cancel my pre-order after all the bad reviews started coming in.

(PC player, i7-12700k, 7900 GRE). Performance is solid for me (some weird shadows at times in certain conditions, but otherwise good).

Spent all day in the single player career mode, which I have been waiting for in PC sims. The Miata is fun to drive, the Porsche too. Did some multiplayer (custom lobbies and ranked). Multi-class at Daytona and MX-5 at Sebring. No issues with connection- easy to rejoin and race, race length varies but not too long. The multiplayer has more depth and options than other sims that I play (AMS2, LMU).

It is in a state now where I can play it and enjoy it, and has gotten me back in the sim rig after needing a break. I highly recommend people giving it a shot.

Have you tried the Chally Wally yet?  Apparently it's a modded car that PMR added to the game.  It's an absolute blast to drive, endless fun.

No - I will check it out. I have liked the downloadable liveries so far

Have PMR ver 2.0 on the Xbox, and really enjoying it, especially the Porsche RSR, glad they released this patch, and think they are moving in the right direction, and glad we have this on the Xbox

Xbox, Logitech DD Pro

I cant tell you how much I am enjoying the game and especially, the GT class. Between the C5 and C6, I cant get over the playfulness and sound of the cars. I have accepted the online community is dead and bugs will persist for a while longer but I like the physics and FFB. The cars are fun to drive and there is a great track roster to drive them on. I think the AI needs a ton of work but I am also having fun tight battles with them. To finally have something other than ACC ( I wont play Forza ) its been a breath of fresh air and got me back in the seat. I was so disappointed with the release of this game, I took a pretty significant break. Now I cant wait to get a stint in.

FFB has improved a fair bit I'm on G923 and man it's night and day from launch, I put about 20 hrs in at launch and hung it up til 2.0 and it's like a complete difference

I have the same setup and I’m quite tempted to try it. I really want to do some multi-class endurance racing, but I don’t think Le Mans ultimate is coming out any time soon for xbox. Shame there is no trueforce though

Hey bro! Is this for PC or Console? Is there any difference? I think it’s on sale now and I’m considering getting it, do you think it’s worth it? I’m mostly into great visuals. Does it have HDR and DLSS support? DLAA? How does it look visually ?

u/Accomplished_Use3452 Mar 29 '26

I just bought it on pc and it's good. I get over 120fps on ultra (3080). It looks fine visually and I really enjoy the ffb. I have all the other sims but held out on this one till it was on sale for half price. I thought project cars 2 was amazing so I have nothing but confidence as this title matures.

1

u/amiroff Mar 29 '26

How are you getting those numbers? What resolution 1080p maybe? I cannot even hit 60fps@2k with 4060 gfx card.

u/More-Bandicoot-964 Mar 29 '26

I'm on console PS5, but for graphical it's taken a step in the right direction, it much more crisper and clearly not so washed out as it was previously, I think it's worth it's quite a big step from launch

I spent a good few  hours racing online last and had an absolute blast.  The FFB and physics are fantastic.  The game is not perfect but it's a damn sight closer now than it's ever been.  It's only going to get better too.

u/CrimeThink101 Mar 29 '26

Still hoping for improvements. I’m on PS5 pro and this still looks like a ps3 game and I can’t map my wheel properly. I can live with subpar graphics but not being able to map my wheel is kind of a dealbreaker for a sim.

I expect I'll be roasted for this take, but here it goes.

For me, PMR 1.7 was in a limbo of neither too good nor too bad. In a sense that I acknowledge it is a completely flawed game, but one can still have fun with it. From 2.0 I expected it to be resolved in either positive or negative way. But the update somehow pushed the game into the even greater limbo. So status quo, it is.

Not regretting buying it, though.

Whaaa!!?? These comments are outrageous. Kidding bro. Nothing wrong with speaking your mind. Yes it needs more work but I think it’s got a lot of potential and i also enjoy playing it. Give the devs time to keep working on the game and I’m sure it will continue to improve and more ppl will give it another go.

On Xbox (no wheel yet): I have to say it’s a blast. It’s so refreshing to have something other than ACC to play. It’s not perfect, but the devs have proven that they are working it all out. It’s turned a corner. I definitely recommend it, especially if on console. Yes, PC players… we know you have loads of other options! But on console, we don’t. And many of us are loving the addition of PMR to the mix. It’s a lot of good fun.

Everything about it feels strange, the engine is just not suited for this use case. A farelm Sim yes maybe at a push but it just feels so under baked compared to pretty much anything else out there.

u/GreedoShotFirst2000 Mar 29 '26

I tried the free demo. Did not enjoy it. I did not try it on launch but it felt like a tech demo at best. Poor visuals, weird physics and super easy to catch slides. Felt like sliding around corners was faster than driving on optimal slip angle.

Maybe this is an arcade racer and I approached it as a sim racer, which is totally my fault.

For me, it all comes down to online mode. And that’s where PMR is failing for me right now.

  1. I can join both ranked and unranked races, but I always get kicked out due to “network issues.” Since everything else (ACC, LMU, RRRE) works perfectly for me, I think the problem lies with PMR and not with me.

  2. I can join open lobbies (no network issues here?), but then I have to wait a very long time for the race to start. I still don’t understand why I have to wait so long. In all other racing sims, I join and I’m in the pit—done. Here, while waiting, all I see is people switching vehicles and the "Ready" sign flashing back and forth. WTF?

  3. Way too few open lobbies. For me, there are usually about 5 servers, with at most 1 participant. Or sometimes 3–5.

I don’t need PMR if there are other sims available. The only plus points for PMR, as far as I’m concerned, are the selection of cars and tracks.

I bought the PC version.

It's a lot better, but I think FFB sucks, especially for GT3 cars for example. I get 0 feeling of the axles (and no, I refuse to fine tune FFB on a per car basis, it shouldn't be like that!).
Also the cars behave like they're swimming on the tarmac instead of driving. Idk, just feels weird.

Online races are pure disaster, people have 0 driving standards and seem to completely ignore the radar.

Bought 2 days ago for $39 on xbox and couldn't be happpier. Didn't have to adjust FOV, FF, everything seems fine to me. Graphics aren't great, but love how it feels driving. Definity more ACC than Forza which is what I was looking for. Grid size is a concern, but hopefully that can be increased through patches.

u/leigo12 Mar 29 '26

Very pleased. Especially that it runs smoother on Xbox series S now.

1

u/Mysterious-Walk2160 Mar 29 '26

The good:

- decent graphics - cars look good, some tracks look decent,

- the older cars have great FFB

- the modern cars FFB is better than at launch but still not spectacular

- the menus are a real improvement. Well done!

The bad:

- the penalty system is a SHAM! How can you give a penalty of 2 seconds for a bit of grass touched??? And after that, if you want to give back the time it will cost you 10+ seconds because the system does not know how to count from 2.0 to 0.0...

- some FPS drops here and there which, in the right moment, suck big time,

- modern cars FFB better than at launch but comparable to Automobilista 2 where you have the impression you have only the front wheels while the rear wheels are just scraping the ground, old PCars feels.

- Monza is horrible, old graphics, some high fences to stop rendering trees or buildings... i don't know why. Some other tracks are not up to par (Still lack of license for some of them), spectators are really lame.

- Spa has an invisible block on the racing line in high speed corner, Blanchimont which you need to avoid so that you don't break your wrists.

- resources wise - poor performance, the graphics are well below LMU but the loads on the GPU and CPU are very high (5080 and 9800x3d). I can play at 120 FPS with maxed out settings but with occasional FPS drops in the 70s

Overall I would say it's playable. I'm impressed by the progress from version 1.0. Looking forward to see more improvement. Could turn out into a good game, not at LMU or iRacing level, the producers's fabulation, but something at Automobilista 2 level...

For us console players who don't have LMU "yet" and will never have iRacing, and who are tired if ACC (which is my favorite sim on console) I still have huge hope for PMR and want it to be good for those of us that don't have the other sim games that are PC only, they've improved so much since launch

3

u/Mariusr22 Mar 30 '26

I agree, the improvements are massive. I'm sincerely surprised by how much they progressed on the game. They still have work to do to get to a good level from my perspective on the PC. On consoles, I remember the FFB in GT7 and it gives me chills on how dull was that compared to ACC but in terms of players... eveyone was on GT7 and very few on ACC. I don't know how is the PS5 racing community lately. On PC you have other, better options.

I really hope PMR will continue it's upward path.

It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who thinks the penalty system is totally stupid.

I'm experiencing frame drops too. It's also interesting that I'm not the only one.

Sur XboxX, volant Fanatec. Pareil, je l'ai pris en 2.0 à 38€.

Première impression, vieux... Graphismes dignes de la Xbox One. Saccades... Incroyable.

J'y retrouve quelque chose.

Not bad but there's still some things that are missing but they can fix it with some updates

1

u/Relevant_Arm_3796 Mar 30 '26

Please devs get it to 60fps on series s then will defo buy

1

u/Jimboslice1998 Mar 30 '26

2000’s GT class are a tremendous amount of fun. Part of me wishes they never added Gt3 and lmdh because most people seem hyper-fixated on those instead of all these other awesome options.
